The world's quietest motorsport series is coming in 2017.

The recently announced Electric GT Championship will kick off next year. The full line-up of drivers for the inaugural racing series are to be revealed at the Autosport International racing motor show at the start of January.

There will be a total of 20 drivers across 10 teams that compete, with the aim to have three teams each from Europe and North American and two each from Asia and the rest of the World.

All teams will race identical identical modified Tesla Model S P85+ race cars.

The Series will visit seven European tracks including the Nurburgring and Barcelona. It will also hold three non-championship races in the Americas.

The Electric GT Championship joins a growing motorsport trend of electric race series, including the Formula-E Series, which are helping to develop the future of zero-emissions motoring.
