Aston Martin is set to follow Jaguar's lead by reviving one of its classic models as a new car.
The British brand is set to reproduce the 1959 Aston Martin DB4 GT as a run of 25 track-only cars for wealthy collectors around the world.
The 25 new models will build on the original run of 75 cars built between 1959 and 1963, following the same design of eight limited-edition lightweight versions of the "gentleman's racer".
Each model will be powered by a 3.7-litre six-cylinder engine that sends more than 250kW to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
The short-wheelbase machines will take shape in Aston Martin's spiritual home of Newport Pagnell before owners take part in a round-the-world racetrack tour taking in circuits such as the Yas Marina grand prix facility in Abu Dhabi.
Aston Martin has not issued prices for the new cars, which are expected to cost more than any of its current production models.
An original DB4 GT built in 1960 sold by RM Sothebys in September fetched ?2,408,000, or more than $4 million.
Aston Martin says the first examples of the DB4 GT will reach customers in the third quarter of 2017.

250Kw from an inline 6 3.7 litre engine was impressive back in 1991 (BMW M5) but now is 370Z territory. Are these needed for future Bond films? There is a risk of being more Alan than James.
