Sr. Leader, Vendor/Product Management
(Woot Inc, Carrollton, TX)

YOU want to chart a company's course. YOU want to report to a CEO. YOU like driving business models that range from "Print On Demand" to "Wine Sales" and "Wholesale Marketplace." YOU want to lead our Project Management team down the garden path and back again. Maybe you also have some hobbies on top of all that. Sure, whatever. We're not really gonna pry.

What we ARE going to do is ask you if you're an analytical, solution-focused owner with a proven track record of obsessing over the customer experience and delivering results by building and developing top performing organizations, keeping the team focused on the right objectives, creating and/or improving business processes, developing productive, cross-functional relationships internally and with external partners, and able to construct amazingly long business sentences like this one right here that's just ending. If you answer yes, you might be able to pick up the five direct reports, and a total team of 50+ who are ready to find a new CMO they can call their own. Won't you please consider their feelings? Apply now.

In this job, you’ll learn: that merchandising a deals site is sort of like punching a hot bowl of pudding: it sounds easy at first, but then you're suddenly covered in hot pudding and it really burns but you can't get any of it off your knuckles and you start screaming and no one will help you because hey, you're a screaming lunatic covered in pudding, why would they make the effort? So, to recap, it's a unique skill set.

Intangible benefits: If you choose, you can strut down the hall like a Roman General, knowing you're at the head of a team working every day to make you look good.

Potential hazards: Roman Generals sometimes needed a guy to walk behind them and whisper "remember thou art mortal" so they didn't get too cocky. So, you know, balance.

If Woot were a superhero team, you’d be: one of the heavy hitters that would absolutely have their own book! But that also means you've got a really messed-up continuity. Possibly spanning multiple Earths.

Worst part of the job: Spanning multiple Earths. Do you REALLY want to find out that the Earth-5 you is a hedgehog in fishnets? Because that's always within the realm of possibility once you start looking too hard.

Make sure you bring: a functioning sense of humor, please. That's like 80% of our corporate culture!

Responsibilities:

  • Mentoring and developing the management team to develop challenging, but achievable, goals and identify the appropriate input targets required to deliver the goals.
  • Develop top performing team members and make great hiring decisions to cultivate bench strength
  • Develop and execute strategic plans for each business team
  • Own P&L responsibility for the overall business – understand the key levers that impact profitability
  • Define and deliver process improvements across the company
  • Cross functional collaboration with Woot and Amazon Marketing, Operations and Technology teams to support strategies and initiatives
  • Maintain a culture of continuous improvement across all teams
  • Key stakeholder driving the company’s project road map – intake, prioritization and execution

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 7+ years’ in buying, account management, product/project management, financial analysis and/or marketing
  • 5+ years’ experience hiring and managing a team
  • 5+ years’ experience in negotiations and vendor/project management
  • Demonstrated analytical skills
  • 5+ years in the online channel with e-commerce experience
  • SQL/ETL skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA with 10+ years of relevant business experience
  • A proven track record in leading and transforming highly effective organizations
  • Superior analytical and quantitative skills, comfortable with complex financial data
  • Track record of results, setting strategy, and running a large volume and high profile business
  • Experience in vendor negotiations, pricing and promotion, inventory management, and product development
  • Strong track record of recruiting, hiring and developing talent
  • High threshold for working in an ambiguous, fast packed environment – figuring it out and adapting as you go
  • Ability to operate simultaneously and effectively in both tactical and strategic modes
  • A willingness to roll up sleeves to get it done
  • Strong communication skills – verbal and written – with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization

And, finally, if you're so into PC imaging and repair, network engineering and troubleshooting, project management, systems administration in a variety of software and hardware environments, root cause analysis in problem solving, and assistance in managing the daily activities of the department that you doodle PCIAR-NEAT-PM-SAIAVOSAHE-RCAIPS-AIMTDAOTD on your notebook while daydreaming during staff meetings, YOU might be the person we're after! And if you don't do all that, well, who can blame you? But we might still be interested anyway, so give it a shot.

In this job, you’ll learn: the difference between stakeholders and steakholders. One is invested in the project. The others would like you to get out of the way so they can serve people their meat.

Intangible benefits: Only if you make friends with the steakholders. Then maybe they can hook you up with hot yeast rolls or something.

Potential hazards: Once you learn how to anticipate bottlenecks, you'll never be able to pass a cooler of beer without feeling nervous.

If Woot were a superhero team, you’d be: one of those supporting characters who help the hero figure out what the clues mean. Con? You'll never really get your own book. Pro? You'll almost never get in a fist-fight with the bad guy.

Worst part of the job: when you fill up on yeast rolls and then the steakholder brings your meat and you're like "Aaaa, I can't eat this now, why did I fill up on bread?"

Make sure you bring: a successful track record. You know, like Chariots Of Fire or something. That record went to #1 in 1981. It doesn't get more successful than that.

Safety Specialist
(Woot Inc, Carrollton, TX)

If this were a perfect world, we wouldn't need anyone to do this job. In a perfect world we'd all just know what was safe and what wasn't, and no one would stumble into any accidents and, as such, we wouldn't need anyone telling us what to do and how to live. But please, don't think that means we don't want you here. Because we accept that this is, in fact, a very very very imperfect world. And, as such, we need someone to keep us from things like forklift jousting or juggling power saws. Without you, where would we be? The Land Of Unsafe, that's where.

In this job, you’ll learn: that we really don't know a lot about survival. As we prove every time we open that rattlesnake drawer. How can we still have that after all these years?

Intangible benefits: We'll owe our lives to you, maybe.

Potential hazards: If we knew that, we wouldn't need to hire you!

If Woot were a superhero team, you’d be: a powerful authority figure, possibly working for the government, trying to make sure superheroes had to answer to the law.

Worst part of the job: walking in on a forklift jousting match. Everyone just kinda stares and looks embarrassed.

Make sure you bring: a small desk safe. Then you can use it as a visual aid when talking about how safe we all need to be. It's the kind of clever and witty thing we do around here each and every day.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as designated safety representative of assigned fulfillment center (FC), coordinating and implementing all areas of the Amazon Global Safety Program
  • Influence behavior and inspire commitment on the part of all personnel in complying with Amazon safety standards and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Conduct training and coach associates on observed work habits in support of this effort.
  • Support management’s efforts to ensure compliance with corporate Safety Program expectations and applicable federal and state law. Identify and inform management of compliance issues, safety risks and improvement opportunities through regular audits.
  • Conduct risk assessments related to jobs performed (Job Hazard Analysis) and new equipment introductions. Recommend appropriate risk mitigation measures to management, including ergonomic considerations, in all such efforts.
  • Facilitate incident investigation process.
  • Maintain accurate daily, weekly and monthly metrics reporting to onsite management teams and corporate based reporting systems.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A completed Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or 2+ years Amazon experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Experienced in emergency response and able to maintain current First aid and CPR certificates

Facilities Manager
(Woot Inc, Carrollton, TX)

Your kitchen floor is so clean you serve dinner there, and to guests. You think nothing of calling up your friend and asking if he's done the regular monthly maintenance on his car. You scrutinize elevator certificates, you wonder how many sodas are left in the machine, and you wake up every weekend with a true joie de vivre because of all those little projects you'll be doing yourself, because you can. You never stop moving, and you never run out of anything in your home, not ever. Stop wasting those talents in the minors, kid. Woot's calling you up to be our Facilities Manager.

In this job, you’ll learn: about the secret testing site in the basement of Woot Hanger 17, where we're developing a new type of monkey that... well, we can talk further after you're hired.

Intangible benefits: you've got an excuse to demand roof access any time you feel like it. It might not seem like much, but it's a power everyone here will envy.

Potential hazards: tiny alligators in the urinals. Yeah, they look cute now, but in a year? Whoo boy.

If Woot were a superhero team, you’d be: quietly directing alien elves on how to properly fix smashed armor and restring cosmic battle bows. But you would eventually get your own limited series after twenty years or so.

Worst part of the job: when those tiny alligators try to get back down to their sewer home and then accidentally clog up the toilets.

Make sure you bring: pockets. Lots of pockets.

Responsibilities:

  • Dedicated to supporting multi-site production by working in a safe, customer-focused manner; and must be highly self-motivated and customer-centric.

Just like sniff the last candiate did boo hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo.

In this job, you’ll learn: the pressures that come from having to help us rebuild after a breakup. Just understand us, okay? Accept us for who we are.

If Woot were a superhero team, you’d be: the new hero taking up an old hero's mantle. It might be strange at first, but in 12 to 25 issues, you'll have proven yourself and earned the costume.

Worst part of the job: when you meet people who knew the last person and they say OH MAN I MISS THAT LAST PERSON SO MUCH

Shirt Area Manager

Everybody wears shirts, don't they? And in your role as Shirt Area Manager you'll be in charge of supplying everybody with the shirts they need to survive. You'll also have to keep a positive work environment, gather all your associates and keep them complying with company policies, meet all your key performance measures and metrics, and make sure information flows up and down the shirt chain. In this job, you’ll learn: that the process of making a t-shirt is a lot more complex than you'd think! For example, there's a thirty-five minute ritual every time you need to add more ink. You've got to wear azure robes and chant like that dance song with the monks in it. You remember that monk song? Man, that monk song was so great.

Intangible benefits: The ink changing ritual doesn't count as personal time. That's thirty-five minutes on the clock!

If Woot were a superhero team, you’d be: watching their adventures on TV because you can't go out into space to fight aliens when you've got to be on call for the ink changing ritual.

Worst part of the job: The printer doesn't brush its teeth when dormant, so when it comes to life, it has the most horrible breath. Seriously. Practice that ritual, you do NOT want to smell printer breath.

Make sure you bring: just your charming self. Also, if you know anybody selling an uncursed printer, we might be interested.

FC I Associate
(Woot Services, LLC, Carrollton, TX)

Some jobs seem pretty boring. Fruit picker. Stock clerk. Guy who buys the chalk for an elementary school. But if you look beyond the tedium you'll discover what the job really is: the glue that holds society together. Because without that picker, how would the fruit make it to the World Bank Fruit Eating Contest And without that chalk, how would tomorrow's Nobel laureates write dirty words on the sidewalk while the teacher isn't looking? And without that stock clerk, how would we even have an economy? The role of "fulfillment assistant" isn't just about folding shirts and putting them in packages. It's the lynchpin that holds capitalism together. And unless you want Joe Stalin to come smashing up Disneyland, it's your duty to apply.

In this job, you’ll learn: about that still, quiet place previously only available to Buddhist kung-fu monks. They do the same task over and over again, for free, until they are enlightened. You'll do the same, but we'll pay you. So in a way, you win!

Intangible benefits: if you achieve cosmic awareness while on the job, you might be allowed to leave early. It'll be up to your supervisor, though.

Potential hazards: every so often a guy in a freaky hat and his two friends with weird eyebrows will show up hoping to fight your department head. The best bet is to just leave 'em in a conference room until they get bored.

If Woot were a superhero team, you’d be: the special guest star who is actually a fan favorite, but for some reason can't ever support his own book. But the toy always sells out, and cosplayers love you!

Worst part of the job: snatching the pebble from Security's hand every time they want you to prove you really do work in the building. Can't we just go back to wearing badges?

Make sure you bring: an inner strength, one that cannot be shaken.

Responsibilities:

  • Regular attendance and punctuality

  • Utilize radio frequency scanners
  • Relocate products using forklifts and pallet jacks

Intangible benefits: when you march your staff up to the top of the hill, then march them down again. What a rush, right?

Potential hazards: any time someone yells "Ashes! Ashes!" you should probably brace yourself.

If Woot were a superhero team, you’d be: the one with a secret base inside a shoe! Also, you'd have an absolute ton of children.

Worst part of the job: there's always a lamb in the lobby. Apparently it follows an employee every day, even though she KNOWS it's against the rules!

Make sure you bring: a pipe, a bowl, and three fiddles. We'll clear up the reason why after you sign your NDA.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop multi-channel Woot marketing and communication strategy across Woot, Amazon, other Amazon subs, social channels and email.
  • Define the target Woot customer profile for each business segment and invent new ways to reach those segments.

Forum Moderator
(Woot Workshop, Seattle, WA)

Like an unseen hand that slaps from the sky above, a forums mod reigns with the divine right of kings. They are in the forums, but not of the forums. A mod must be balanced, focused, honest and just. Without those features, you're not a mod. You're a rocker!

Oh, and here's a heads up: mods will be exposed to anything ranging from immature verbal assaults to terrifyingly grotesque imagery on a daily basis. Mods will also be expected to keep long and odd hours from time to time, (such as during Woot-Offs or during technical difficulties) and file daily reports about, well, stuff. Possibly even regarding the terrifyingly grotesque imagery, if it's bad enough. Think you've got what it takes? HUH?

In this job, you'll learn: that no matter what you do, someone's going to think you're power-trippin'.

Intangible benefits: you'll have the power to ban people! Which, naturally, you'll use only in extreme cases after much discussion and consideration with the other members of the team. But even still, THE BAN BUTTON! THAT'S SO COOL!!!

Potential hazards: Trolls come from dark places, and they bring some freaky .jpgs with them. The Internet ain't all talking cats, you know.

If Woot were a superhero team, you'd be: a mysterious being of vast cosmic power who mostly does nothing but watch. But every so often…

Worst part of the job: We can't really stress it enough: those .jpgs are gonna be freaky.

Make sure you bring: An iron will, an iron fist, and an iron. You wouldn't want to look all wrinkled for your interview, now would you?

Responsibilities:

  • Act as first line of defense for technical, customer service, and community, as well as any other type of issue that may arise
  • Maintain and develop community standards with a neutral perspective; self-moderation skills are extremely important
  • Recognize and report product safety issues; communicate issues, problems to other internal departments on behalf of the customer
  • Recognize and address threats to the well-being of the community (e.g. shilling, referral linking programs)

Technical Program Manager II
(Woot Services, LLC, Seattle, WA)

We'll be honest with you, this job is a whisper in a dark alley. This job is a shadowy file in a back room. This job is for the person that appears, gets things done, and vanishes. Maybe you're real. Maybe you're a legend. All that's know is when people see your face, they know something important is happening. And when you call on them, they know adventure follows.

To be a TMPII is to pledge your life to two worlds, and to stand between them at all times. You'll speak nerd and suit and roll your eyes equally at both. But, at the end of the day, you'll be the one thing keeping the abstract and the concrete from tearing each other apart.

Also, there's a coffee machine close by. That could save you a little money, right?

In this job, you’ll learn: that time is a fluid construct that constantly expands and contracts in order to make sure your department will never have enough of it to go around. Best of luck!

Intangible benefits: you can sing your job description to the tune of Beethoven's 5th Symphony. Go on, try it. TPM II. T. P. M. II. TPM II, TPM II, TPM II! TPM II, TPM II, TPM II! TPM II tpm ii TPM II tpm ii TPM II, II, II! How lovely!

Potential hazards: only if you try to do the same thing with a Philip Glass piece.

If Woot were a superhero team, you’d be: the cursed magician who was always drawn to the moment of greatest crisis to say DOOM! DOOM IS UPON US! and find the most essential heroes who know how to solve the problem by the deadline.

Worst part of the job: when someone beats you to the coffee machine and puts in those beans you don't like. You know, the ones that taste like mocha and salmon. What's even UP with those beans?

Make sure you bring: your time machine, if you have one. If you don't have one, consider devoting your retirement to finding one and then sending it back to yourself on your first day at this job! It's logically unsound but if it works, it works.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess risks, anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, make tradeoffs, balance the business needs versus technical constraints and encourage risk taking behavior to maximize business benefit.
  • Work closely with the software development and product teams to deliver high quality, scalable products
  • Ensure the most efficient use of resources and technologies.
  • Work with all the stakeholders to assemble project teams, assign responsibilities, identify appropriate resources needed, and develop schedules to ensure timely completion of projects by meeting project milestones.
  • Successful candidates will have a technical background, be detail driven and have excellent problem solving abilities. You should not only be passionate about delivering extensible, on-time solutions, but should also be obsessed with contributing to the development of high-performance teams through rigorous goal-setting, disciplined attention to performance metrics, continuous process improvement and mentorship.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+years experience managing complex technology projects
  • Experience with project delivery for large, cross functional projects
  • Experience developing Internet products and technologies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree
  • Experience building large customer facing websites and/or mobile applications
  • Ability to anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make trade-offs balancing the business needs vs. technical constraints

  • Quantitative analytical abilities
  • Strong organizational skills, successful track record of coordinating between multiple project stakeholders including project sponsors, other technical program managers, and multiple software development teams
  • Tracking and mitigating risks on large scale projects
  • Previous work experience as a software developer (experience running teams using Agile Development methods strongly preferred)
  • Ability to enable effective teamwork, communication, collaboration and commitment across multiple disparate groups with competing priorities.
  • Exhibits strong software development qualities including the ability drive creative and innovation solutions to complex problems, good technical judgment, clear communication, engagement and teamwork, and can drive quality.
  • Exhibits strong leadership qualities including excellent judgment, relentlessly high standards, can dive deep and remain in touch with business details, drives innovation in their teams, invokes passion in others, can think big, and delivers results

Vendor Manager - Tools & Garden
(Woot Services, LLC, Seattle, WA)

All things begin with tools and end in a garden. Go on, think of something. How was it made? WITH TOOLS. And when the last bit of it turns into dust, what will happen then? SOMETHING WILL GROW ON THAT DUST. It's the whole cycle of life. Tools to Garden. And we must play our part.

So if you're interested covering both ends of the entire human experience, from creation to death, maybe you'll want to be our new Vendor Manager! You'll need to talk across teams and levels, balance the needs and requirements of internal and external customers, prioritize as our business changes and, above all, deliver results. Because without results, what are we? Just ships slowly passing from point a to point b and leaving nothing behind. Yeah. Tools and Gardens are DEEP.

In this job, you’ll learn: the philosophy of taking and sending away. Truly, what IS retail but the application of taking and sending away? And what is life but various forms of retail?

Intangible benefits: if you want to talk about the nature of human existence during lunch you clearly will find one or two people interested.

Potential hazards: only if you pick one of the bad spots for lunch. Philosopher kings are super picky about what they eat.

If Woot were a superhero team, you’d be: probably one of those '90s heroes who talk a bunch about the big concepts like creation and destruction and why we're here in the universe. Also your artist might do some really surreal stuff. But at least you'd be critically acclaimed.

Worst part of the job: when your boss says "We need this by five" and you say "But what does five truly mean since time is a human construct to explain the decay of life in a forward direction?" and then your boss is like "Get back to work" and you're like "okay."

Make sure you bring: an interest in being a VM for Tools & Garden. Despite this job description, you're not actually going for your PhD.

Responsibilities:

  • P&L responsibility for managed vendors: negotiate the best costs, and grow sales and margin
  • Manage day-to-day vendor relationships, represent Woot when meeting with vendors’ senior executive teams
  • Conduct financial analysis of business opportunities to meet and exceed revenue and profitability targets
  • Work with internal teams to help drive tools and process improvements that affect the categories, with emphasis on automating tasks that are currently performed manually

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years in product, project, business, and/or vendor management is required
  • Bachelor's degree in retail, business, operations, supply-chain or a related discipline
  • Thorough knowledge of and experience using Excel and/or Access databases and familiarity with statistics or other analytical techniques

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong data extraction, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Proven negotiating skills, influencing abilities and some vendor management experience
  • The right candidate thrives in a high energy environment where tactical and strategic activities are expected to be driven in parallel
  • Highly innovative, flexible and self-directed
  • Superior analytical skills, with demonstrated ability to dive in and quickly understand root cause and identify scalable solutions
  • Must possess excellent business judgment, strong written and oral communication skills, and a practical, common sense approach to getting things done
  • High degree of organization and ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
  • · Excellent collaboration skills that enable you to earn trust at all levels
  • · Extreme attention to detail and willingness to roll up your sleeves

You're just the sort of person the robots want to keep their job warm for them until they're born. Hey, don't look so sad. In robot logic, that's a compliment!

As you formalize problem definitions from ambiguous requirements, extract insights from big data and develop cutting-edge solutions for non-standard problems, research with, experiment with, and analyzing forecasting strategies, mathematical models and also prototype implementations, you'll know that one day, a super-cool robot will wheel in and tell you that you're no longer needed. Responsibilities:

  • End-end ownership starting from the customer experience on the website all the way to last mile delivery and customer service
  • Innovate and simplify Woot’s ordering and Account Management user interfaces as well as develop and integrate programmatic solutions that result in significant process and cost improvements across our supply chain

  • MBA preferred
  • Data mining and ability to write SQL queries
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, schedule tradeoffs and evaluate opportunistic new ideas with technical employees

Senior UX Designer
(Woot Workshop, Seattle, WA)

UX! See that? It's a perfectly formed U and a perfectly shaped X. Pretty good, huh? Yeah, we're pretty proud of how well we designed that UX up there. But maybe, just maybe, you can do better. So if you think you can UX up to our level, well, give it a shot. But we've got to warn you. We've been typing "UX" for years now. We're prrrretty good at it.

That having been said, if you think you're the talented Senior UX Designer who can outshine an UX like this - UX! - then give us a jingle. You'll need to be comfortable with all manner of visual design projects, from a template-based icon to interactive web features to Heaven knows what else. Innovation and independence is valued highly, but we'll still expect you to listen to our dumb ideas and make them work. Applicants will be evaluated primarily on their online portfolios; failure to provide work samples (and your role in each) will pretty much guarantee that we won't call you. Coding or other multimedia production skills are a bonus. Also you need to be able to write "UX" without any typos. Think you can handle that?

In this job, you’ll learn: that showing off a portfolio which demonstrates how you have an excellent eye for graphic design, including: color, layout, typography, and illustration, an in-depth understanding of web design principles and usability, and a solid grounding in the possibilities (and limitations) of current and emerging web technologies and trends is literally the only way to impress us. Not counting the guy who did fifty thousand jumping jacks without taking a break. Now THAT was impressive.

Intangible benefits: it's fun to watch people doing jumping jacks in the parking lot, if that's what you mean.

Potential hazards: the heartbreak of seeing a person who's just done 49,999 jumping jacks collapse into a puddle of tears, knowing they missed the record by mere inches.

If Woot were a superhero team, you’d be: a billionaire named Jack with radiation-enhanced jumping powers (who hopefully does some UX work on the side).

Worst part of the job: when the boss calls you in to ask why you misspelled "UX" for the third time. Seriously. Get yourself together.

Make sure you bring: a portfolio which demonstrates how you have an excellent eye for graphic design, including: color, layout, typography, and illustration, an in-depth understanding of web design principles and usability, and a solid grounding in the possibilities (and limitations) of current and emerging web technologies and trends. Just in case you hadn't caught on to how serious we are about that part.

Responsibilities:

  • Relentlessly pursuing and advocating for the best possible customer experience by partnering with product managers, vendor managers, developers, and other designers.
  • Take ownership of both large and small projects.
  • Own the end-to-end design process and deliverables such as workflows, wireframes, mockups, prototypes, redlines, and optimized assets.
  • Be adept at communicating everything from design strategy to detailed interaction behaviors for both mobile and web
  • You understand shopping should be both frictionless and fun.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 6+ years as a User Experience Designer, Interaction Designer, Product Designer or similar role designing for mobile and desktop

Sr. Manager of Traffic
(Woot Services, LLC, Seattle, WA)

Do you open spam and think "Wow, this person clearly has NO idea about what their key metrics should be!" When you buy gifts for people, do you consult your self-made algorithm chart based on a year of personal observations so you know who will most prefer what? Do you like to keep track of the pizza delivery trucks outside your apartment, occasionally cross-referencing them to the days sporting events to find trends and their causes? Because, if so… we're very interested.

In essence, we're looking for a traffic pro, who can help us introduce new customers to our great deals and hilarious content. You will lead a team of marketers and coordinate with our vendor management, product management, and development teams to identify and prioritize our biggest traffic driving opportunities. You will also manage external partners and identify new partners to help us drive traffic and introduce woot to new customers. Plus this role has responsibility for strategy, execution, measurement, and reporting across all the channels. And if you don't feel scared after reading that sentence, YOU might be just who we're looking for!

In this job, you’ll learn: how to best explain the costs and benefits of our activities and events in simple words that even the writers can understand. Maybe try metaphors about Archie comics, they usually respond well to those.

Intangible benefits: You'll be working with category leads, editorial staff, development teams, finance, advertising, legal, and customer service, so you're pretty much going to know everybody.

Potential hazards: Your job description includes the sentence "The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working closely across functions, as well as the ability to communicate with executive stakeholders." See the word "executive" in there? That means it'll be harder to pass the buck, so you gotta do it right the first time.

If Woot were a superhero team, you’d be: some sort of vampire slayer, probably. How else will you meet the stakeholders? AYYYYYYYYYY

Worst part of the job: That joke you just read. That's it. It's all downhill now.

Make sure you bring: all your information about the pizza deliveries. We'd like to review it so we know how we can get our lunch here faster.

Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities will be divided into five general areas.

  • Traffic Channel Ownership: Ownership of all managed marketing channels including: email, organic search, paid search, affiliates, app download campaigns, display advertising, and paid and earned social. • Customer Acquisition and Retention: Drive new customers via paid and organic search, social media programs, e-mail marketing, and other online marketing initiatives while also bringing new consumers into the fold via more traditional offline campaigns. Be creative and use the latest techniques to build the user base and accelerate customer growth through a range of marketing strategies and programs.
  • Public Relations and Event Marketing: Develop media relations strategies that elevate Woot’s visibility as a trusted deals site. Sr. Manager, Woot Marketplace
(Woot Inc, Seattle, WA)

Do you remember back in 1995 when your future was data jacks and black leather jackets, and the World Wide Web was full of blue disks and red squares and everyone talked like CD-ROMs would be changing the world for good? We were going to jump the digital fences and play data football across everyone's backyards. The Internet was a suburb lawn and we were all children who knew we'd be doing this forever. And now? Now we understand that summer doesn't last for but a day.

We bring this up now because you're probably sometimes wondering how you can face your 1995 self in the mirror. With us, you'll be part of a team that researches analyzes, and structures deals to perform at the highest level possible. Synthesizing these inputs, you will recommend optimal deal opportunities to ensure the best customer and vendor experience. And how can you better express this to your 1995 self? By saying "Hey, kid, we grow up to run an online marketplace, and I'm in charge of the secret information." And once you work for us, it'll technically be true.

In this job, you’ll learn: that the Internet has matured since the days of 56k. Even though the people using it really haven't.

Intangible benefits: When you make a joke about measuring bouncy castle data at your fifth birthday party in order to track the key attributes and inputs that ensure performance, at least half of us will understand and by impressed by your thinking.

If Woot were a superhero team, you’d be: the snappy android with significant experience analyzing data, identifying trends, extracting conclusions, and presenting recommendations in a simple and clear manner. Also, you'd talk like a Vertigo character from 1994. That could be either good or bad, you'll have to decide that on your own.

Worst part of the job: we make everyone grow a soul patch and wear a "Don't Have A Cow, Man" shirt.

Make sure you bring: a dolphin. If you're a real cyberpunk fan we don't have to explain why.

Responsibilities:

  • Building the deal program with Amazon’s GoldBox.

Sr. SDE
(Woot Services, LLC, Seattle, WA)

Imagine being a robot. A cool robot. A robot with a bunch of mysterious robed figured for bosses. A robot saving children from threats. ARISE TOBOT-Z the mysterious robed figures would say, and you would, and it'd be awesome. This is what it means to be a Senior SDE at Woot.com, in a very broad sense. More or less. You know, metaphorically.

Much like TOBOT-Z you'll be handling things that directly impact and empower customers on a massive scale. Unlike TOBOT-Z you'll be handling website platforms and not mutated turtles with laser eyes. You'll also be busy with front-end and back-end development, but take heart! You'll never have to fight a cursed wizard from the past and his dinosaur minons! Poor TOBOT-Z ends up facing him like once a year. He's a really popular bad guy, you see.

In this job, you’ll learn: that you actually can link a giant robot with a human through the use of magic bracelets. It takes a little work, but it's totally possible.

Intangible benefits: it's a total rush when you yell TOOOOOBOT-ZEEEEEEE and swing your hands around into a battle position.

Potential hazards: if you do that in a business review meeting, it's gonna get really really quiet for a second and your boss will clear their throat.

If Woot were a superhero team, you’d be: well, DUH.

Worst part of the job: when you've got a code review about to happen and yet Queen Doomzala is tearing up the Space Needle yelling BRING ME TOBOT-Z.

Make sure you bring: a backup robot of your human identity who knows how to act in a code review for when you need to sneak out. That'll also help when you just want to go to the lake for a day too.

Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize well, communicate clearly, and have a consistent track record of delivery.
  • Balance creative engineering with high quality and customer focus.
  • Use Scrum and test-driven development to meet business objectives, build code continuously, and refactor systems as needed.
  • Use ASP.NET MVC and C# to build our website for desktop and mobile.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 6+ years professional experience in software development
  • Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, including object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
  • Proficiency in, at least, one object oriented language such as C#, C++ or Java
  • Solid knowledge of database structures and tools
  • Experience leading or mentoring other developers

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience crafting automated unit, integration, functional, and regression tests
  • Experience refactoring code and evolving architectures
  • Experience with distributed computing and enterprise-wide systems
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs
  • Knowledge of supply chain or fulfillment systems and terminology
  • Experience developing RESTful APIs with ASP.NET MVC

SDE
(Woot Services, LLC, Seattle, WA)

They say if a butterfly flaps in Tibet, it changes the wind in Seattle. We say THAT'S TOO LONG TO WAIT. And that's why we go out and buy a fan, so we don't have to wait on some stupid butterfly to wake up and flap. We alter the wind IMMEDIATELY. BECAUSE THAT'S THE SORT OF PEOPLE WE ARE!!!

Are you like us? Do you enjoy working on challenging problems that directly impact and empower customers at a massive scale? Are you interested in innovating and engineering services and website platforms that power our business operations? Are you sick to death of empowering some no-good butterfly? DO YOU WANT TO STICK YOUR HEAD OUT OF THE WINDOW AND SCREAM "I'M PASSIONATE ABOUT FRONT END AND BACK END DEVELOPMENT AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANY MORE"?!?!? If so, maybe this is your kinda place, yeah? Yeah. YEAH. YEAH.

In this job, you’ll learn: that a Tibetan Butterfly isn't so bad, really. It's just a butterfly trying to get by in the world. Maybe it's got a van with some shag carpet and a cool 8-track. You two should hang out.

Intangible benefits: A chance to build great software for customers. Have you ever touched software? Huh? If you said yes, you're WRONG. You touched the device on which the software is stored. Just like a story. Or a poem. Or song. Or your memories of childhood.

Potential hazards: If you start talking too much about poems and songs and memories of childhood, nobody's gonna want to hang out around your desk. So just be warned.

If Woot were a superhero team, you’d be: yeah, funny thing. There aren't yet a lot of superheroes who got their powers after being bitten by a mobile app. But the moment a hero like that shows up? That'll be you. That'll be you all the way.

Worst part of the job: when the butterfly parks the van in your driveway and starts ranting about how people don't take it seriously as a weather controlling device. It'll try to convince you that HAARP is just twenty billion butterflies strapped to a board. Just smile and nod. Smile and nod.

Make sure you bring: a custom printed purple shirt that reads "I got tricked into wearing this by the guy who writes the job descriptions." Wear it. Show it off to everyone. They'll totally be checking for it too. snicker

Basic Qualifications:
