Australian Chart Summary

Monday - Latest

Cool air aloft is producing showers and thunderstorms over QLD and parts of NSW. Moist onshore winds are delivering showers along the QLD coast. A broad low pressure trough is producing showers and storms over southern WA, extending north over the Kimberley.

Tuesday 22:00 EDT

Hot, dry gusty winds will raise fire danger in southeastern Australia ahead of a trough and front. The trough and front will then bring a cooler change and the odd shower and storm to SA, TAS, VIC and southern NSW. Troughs will also generate showers and storms in WA, NT and QLD.

Wednesday 22:00 EDT

Troughs will draw moisture from the tropics to cause more widespread showers and storms across the tropics, central Australia, SA, northern VIC NSW. Hot winds ahead of the trough will affect central and northern NSW, western QLD and central Australia.

Thursday 22:00 EDT

A trough will stall in the east, filling with moisture to generate widespread rain and storms. Heavy falls are likely in western NSW and northern SA. Other troughs will cause showers and storms across the QLD, the NT and northern WA. Wind will turn warm easterly on the west coast

Friday 22:00 EDT

A trough will linger in the east and cause widespread rain and storms in VIC, NSW and southern QLD with some heavy falls. Troughs will continue to cause showers and storms across a large part of QLD, the NT and a few in northern and western inland WA.

Saturday 22:00 EDT

A trough should edge east in NSW, taking heavy rain and storms with it to eastern parts of the state. The trough should cause heavy showers and storms in western and northern QLD and the NT. A trough in the west should dip south, taking hot, thundery weather in WA with it.

Sunday 22:00 EDT

Low pressure troughs will generate very warm winds, showers and storms across northern NSW, QLD, the NT and WA. Heavy falls are possible, most likely in the NT and QLD. A high should keep SA, VIC and most of western and southern NSW dry and clear showers from TAS.
