Meet our Women of the Year finalists: Constance Hall

After hundreds of nominations for women from all walks of life for Daily Life's 2016 Women of the Year, we have a top 10, as nominated by you and whittled down by our judging panel.

The winner, and this year's Daily Life Woman of the Year, will be announced on December 5.

Finalist, Constance Hall

Since launching her Facebook page in late 2015 and going viral with her "parents sex" post in January, the 33-year-old mother of four has now amassed more than 1.2 million followers on social media. She's not your typical "mummy blogger", no topic is off limits and no detail of her life is too private to share. Through her humorous and sometimes expletive ridden posts on Facebook and her blog queensofconstance.com she aims to lift women up with entries about motherhood, marriage, friendship, family and, as she puts it, "insanity". Hall has "cut through" thanks to her ability to focus on the positive, accept the negative and have a laugh at everything.

Highlight of 2016

This year has been Hall's biggest to date.

"Going viral is like riding a wave, you're either going to love it and then get dumped, or you're going to be riding it because you can back it up and that's what I managed to do and I rode it with all of my experience," she said.

After years of unsuccessfully pitching story ideas to online sites for years her quick ascension was welcome.

"Because I'd been writing for so long and trying to latch onto someone else's audience, I have so much stuff to say but I never expected to go viral, but I was gloved up, I was so ready for this," she said. "I have so much material that I didn't know where to start. Let's talking about slut shaming, let's talk about fat shaming, let's talk about post-natal depression, let's talk about anxiety. What do you guys want to talk about?"

Shortly after the success of "parents sex" she started writing her book, a memoir, Like A Queen.

It's been challenging because

"This last year I have developed such a tall poppy fear. I've never been so loved and so hated before in my life. It's a really strange place," she said.

Despite her insecurities, Hall is a master of diplomacy when things get a bit heated online. She makes her views known but always plays the issue, never the woman.

I'm driven by

Her devoted followers, who Hall calls her "queens".

"I don't have followers, they're not following me. They're queens. It is a tip of the crown, we've got each other's backs. It was never meant to be this huge movement that it became," she said.

"I've always love the notion of 'queening'. She's a queen, she's fabulous, she's doing her shit, leave her alone.

"Why can't we just love the way we look, this belly is amazing. My kids use it to sleep on. I'm sick to death of feeling like I've got to cover it up and buy clothes that cover it up. So I did this post about getting our bits out with the #likeaqueen hashtag and it resonated, then everyone started getting everything out. I was loving it, we're all so hot. I didn't move from my kitchen floor for three days just looking at the posts of women's beautiful natural bodies," she said.

My support team

Her family, Bill and her four kids, Billie-Violet, 7, Arlo, 5 and twins Rumi and Snow, 2.

Since she has become a brand in less than a year and published her book, Hall has had to recruit a team. All of those she has employed are family members. Husband Bill, who also runs a successful timber flooring company, run sales, her brother-in-law is in charge of book distribution and her sister handles her social media admin.

"My sister can bust my brother-in-law's chops if people haven't got their book, it just takes me right out it. I just want to hang out with my kids, do my shit and be a good mother," she said
