A man has been taken to hospital after being speared through the floor of his car while driving on a country road north of Gympie on Saturday night.
Emergency crews worked for more than an hour to free the 25-year-old driver after a metal pole he had driven over flicked up and punctured the floor of the car and penetrated the seat as well as the driver, according to RACQ LifeFlight.

Driver impaled by pole
A 25-year-old man is in a serious but stable condition after being impaled by a metal pole which flicked up through the floor of his car near Gympie: RAW VISION.
The man had run off the side of the road on Kinpyre Court, Curra, about 8.40pm but police say no other vehicles were involved.
The driver continued for about another 150 metres before stopping.
He was flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
"LifeFlight's critical care doctor and flight intensive care paramedic worked very closely with both local Queensland Ambulance Service and Queensland Fire and Emergency Service crews on the best way to free the patient," according to RACQ LifeFlight.
"It took over an hour and half for the patient to be released and for the pole to be suitably reduced from the patient."
