Shyama (born Khurshid Akhtar; 7 June 1935, Lahore) is a former Bollywood actress. Her best known roles were in Aar Paar (1954), Barsaat Ki Raat (1960) and Tarana. She was also noticed in 'Sawan Bhadon', 'Dil Diya Dard Liya', 'Milan' and 'Sharda' for which she was awarded Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress. Songs picturised on her like 'ae dil mujhe bata de', 'O chand jahan wo jaye', 'ae lo main hari piya', ' dekho, wo chand chhup ke karata hai kya ishare', 'chhupa ke meri aankhon ko', 'ja re ka re badara' are examples of her sensitive acting.
Director Vijay Bhatt gave her the stage name Shyama by which she is credited in her movies. She had starring roles in Guru Dutt's classic Aar Paar and later in Barsaat Ki Raat which was perhaps her best performance. She was a major star in the 1950s and 60s and acted in more than 200 movies, many in starring roles.

Plot: Bojroshen, a foreign merchant, is carrying a necklace of rare emeralds which he does not intend to trade but which he has bought for the girl of his dreams, whom he has not yet met. The Queen of the country through which he is traveling has heard of this necklace and the King has sent his spies to find him. Shyama, a court dancer, is with her companions when Bojroshen rushes past her, hotly pursued by the King's Guard. She falls head over heels in love with Bojroshen, although she sees that he has been caught and handcuffed by the policeman. Using her companions as intermediaries, she asks the King's Guard to visit her with his prisoner. She asks the King's Guard why Bojroshen has been imprisoned. The King's Guard replies that there has been a theft from the Royal Treasury and that, to avoid losing face, the police need to catch a culprit, no matter who it is. Realizing that Bojroshen has been falsely accused of theft and faces execution, she persuades the King's Guard to spare Bojroshen for two days, hoping that she can help him to freedom in this time. When Bojroshen hears that Shyama has secured this stay of execution because she has fallen in love with him, he realizes that this is the girl of his dreams. Uttiyo has been a secret admirer of Shyama for many years but has never expressed his affection for her. When he hears that she is seeking someone valiant enough to save Bojroshen from an unjust execution, he tells Shyama that he is prepared to put himself in the place of the one she loves so that she will remember him forever. As a token of her affection, she gives him a ring which the King has given her. Ignoring warnings that he is too young to die, Uttiyo surrenders to the King's Guard, showing the ring as proof that he was responsible for the theft. Shyama tries to tell the King's Guard that Uttiyo did not steal the ring but he sends her away and executes Uttiyo. Shyama visits Bojroshen in prison to let him know of his release, though she is troubled by her conscience. Bojroshen is delighted both to be free and to see her again. Shyama runs away with him. Displeased with Shyama's disappearance from the palace, the King sends his guards to look for her. Meanwhile, Bojroshen is curious to know how Shyama obtained his release and she tells him that he was freed because of Uttiyo's sacrifice. He is so shocked at what she has done that he sends her away. Although he realizes that she had only done this to save him, he is unable to forgive her.

They do come across a woman named Shyama, but she denies having any children, and it is then that they find out that there is another Mankulam to the north of Sri Lanka. Watch what happens when Amudha finally gets to meet her birth-mother - who may outrightly disown her or induct her as one of the many child warriors amongst the Tamil Tigers.

Plot: During the Devrajya it was Bhagwan Shri Vishnu who ruled the universe in the form of Bhagwan Shri Ram; then during the Manavraj, where he ruled as Bhagwan Shri Kishan; in the Kalyug (dark age) He ruled as Lord Jesus and Bhagwan Shri Buddh - and now in Shirdi circa the British Rule in India was Bhagwan Shri Sai Baba. No living person knew how he came about this blessed village - but initially was shunned by both Hindus and Muslims, especially by Bal Bhate who though Sai was a Muslim and forbade him to enter any Mandir; Rohila, a Muslim, who thought Sai was desecrating the local Masjid by performing Hindu prayers and incantations, attempted to kill Sai, but then he saw both Allah and Bhagwan in Sai's eyes and became a devotee. When Sai was ready to give up his body and resurrect himself after 3 days, just like Lord Jesus, a disbelieving Bal had wanted Sai's body to be cremated within 24 hours - only to find out that Sai had indeed risen, and also became his devotee. As did Bhagoti, a leper, who was cured by Sai. Though Sai had no relations, he did call Tatya's mom his sister; Tatya his maternal nephew; a devotee named Laxmi as his daughter, and an elderly woman as his mother. Sai displayed his true form and opulence to another devotee, Nana Chandorkar. Though he lived in a rebuilt Masjid, Sai urged his devotees to pray to God, as the Creator had only created Humans - never any religion or borders - and to love and respect all living beings. He begged for alms daily so that he could collect sins and wash them away. He always uttered 'Allah Bala Kare' and 'Bhagwan Bala Kare' to both Muslims and Hindus alike. He appeared in a multitude form of deities (Lord Jesus, Guru Nanak Devji, Allah, Bhagwan Shri Ganesh) to cater to the various tastes of devotees. Sai was also fond of Nanavli, a mentally challenged devotee, who often challenged Sai, but was one of the few who really understood and accepted Sai as Vishnu's Avatar. Sai appeared simultaneously in a wealthy man's and Nana's dreams and called upon them to construct a Mandir of Bhagwan Shri Kishan. While the construction was under way, Sai prophesied the death of Tatya but also told them not to tell him and to not worry. Shortly thereafter while bequeathing the nine coins symbolizing nine virtues to Laxmi (which depict Sravan, Kirtan, Smaran, Pagsera, Archana, Namaskar, Dastan, Samveta, & Atmanivrdan) Sai was ready to demonstrate to his devotees why they should not worry about Tatya's impending demise.

Frosted windowpanes
Candles gleaming inside
Painted candy canes on the tree
Santa's on his way
He's filled his sleigh with things
Things for you and for me
It's that time of year
When the world falls in love
Every song you hear seems to say
"Merry Christmas
May your new year's dreams come true"
And this song of mine
In three quarter time
Wishes you and yours
The same thing, too
It's that time of year
When the world falls in love
Every song you hear
Seems to say
"Merry Christmas
May your new year dreams come true"
And this song of mine
In three quarter time
Wishes you and yours
