How to enter Indian Army?
There are various entries for Engineering students, following are the routes:-
1) UES ( University Entry Scheme ) – This is meant for 3rd Year students.
2) TGC ( Technical Graduate Course) – This is meant for 4th year students.
3) SSC ( Short Service Commission) – This is meant for 4th year students.
4) CDS (Common Defence Services) – This is common for all branches.
How did you get selection in Indian Army?
Gaurav cleared the selection of Indian Army through UES in 3rd Year.
- 1st stage was Campus Interview.
What was the campus interview all about? ( First step of SSB Interview )
- Campus interview is all about :-
Basic HR
- Background of the college
- Intellectual capabilities of the candidate
What happened next?
After the campus interview, the selected candidates were called for SSB at Bhopal.
What is SSB?
SSB Interview is a 5-day process. Which assesses the candidates – Personality, Thoughts & Actions
How to proceed?
On the day of arrival all the documents are screened. Following documents are required:-
-Xth Mark sheets,
- XIIth Mark sheets ,
- Semesters Marksheets & all the Bonafied certificates.
1st Day of SSB Interview process included:-
Under Screening Test – 2 test
- Intelligence Test - Basic Intelligence test questions.
- Picture Perception Discussion – For 30 sec a picture will be shown, after that you have to
write about the picture and then followed by a Group Discussion.( 10-12 students)
2nd Day – Psychology Test Day
I) TAT – ( Thematic Apprehension Test) 12 stories are shown to candidates
II) WAT – (Word Association Test)- 60 words will be shown – You would need to write sentence
about each word in 15 sec
III) SRT ( Situation Reaction Test)– 60 situations will be given and you need to provide 60
IV) Self Description- Paragraphs on Opinion of their Parents, Teachers, colleagues and the
solutions in a span of 30 minutes.

GD – Group Discussion
Extempore
Various Rounds:-
GD is taken into 2 phase.
- 1st GD is done for simple Current Affairs.
- 2nd GD is done on the following:-
- GPE- A situation is given and the group has to come to a conclusion.
- GOR – A group has to participate as a whole and has to beat each other as a group
- Extempore – A topic is given on the spot and the candidate has to speak for 3 minutes.
Interview Process:-
Interviews were taken on Day 2nd, 3rd & 4th during the afternoon & evening hours and the candidates were
well informed prior to the interviews. Questions were covered on the following topics:-
- Background of the candidate starting from Xth, XIIth, College
- Sports
- Extra-Curricular activities
- Current Affairs
- Technical
- Achievements
- Positions held by the candidates
Day 5:-
In conference day questions are asked to the candidates in front of the entire board. The board consists of
Phycologists, Interview Officers and GTO. And the recommended candidates are retained to go for Medical
Examination at the same location, it takes around 5 days.

Indian Army
The Indian Army is the land-based branch and the largest component of the Indian Armed Forces. The President of India serves as Commander-in-Chief of the army, and it is commanded by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), who is a four-star General. Two officers have been conferred the rank of Field marshal, a Five-star rank, which is a ceremonial position of great honour. The Indian Army originated from the armies of the East India Company, which eventually became the British Indian Army and finally the national army after independence. The units and regiments of the Indian Army have diverse histories and have participated in a number of battles and campaigns across the world, earning a large number of battle and theatre honours before and after Independence.
The primary mission of the Indian Army is to ensure national security and unity, defending the nation from external aggression and threats, and maintaining peace and security within its borders. It conducts humanitarian rescue operations during natural calamities and other disturbances, like Operation Surya Hope, and can also be requisitioned by the government to cope with internal threats. It is a major component of national power alongside the Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force. The army has been involved in four wars with neighbouring Pakistan and one with China. Other major operations undertaken by the army include Operation Vijay, Operation Meghdoot and Operation Cactus. Apart from conflicts, the army has conducted large peace time exercises like Operation Brasstacks and Exercise Shoorveer, and it has also been an active participant in numerous United Nations peacekeeping missions including the ones in Cyprus, Lebanon, Congo, Angola, Cambodia, Vietnam, Namibia, El Salvador, Liberia, Mozambique and Somalia.

How to enter Indian Army?
There are various entries for Engineering students, following are the routes:-
1) UES ( University Entry Scheme ) – This is meant for 3rd Year students.
2) TGC ( Technical Graduate Course) – This is meant for 4th year students.
3) SSC ( Short Service Commission) – This is meant for 4th year students.
4) CDS (Common Defence Services) – This is common for all branches.
