Viewer discretion is advised. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - PRESS RELEASE - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - LAS VEGAS, Aug. 2​2 – The U.S.-based women’s rights organization GoTopless will hold its ninth annual Go Topless Day on August 28, according to the organization’s president, Nadine Gary. “In the United States and the rest of the planet, we’re triggering a cultural revolution that will change the world,” she said in a statement released today. Gary said pride parades and other events are scheduled in the legally topless cities of New York, Toronto and Vancouver as well as in cities with discriminatory laws, including Los Angeles, Paris, Berlin, Geneva, and over 60 other cities. “The GoTopless revolution specifically targets the sexist, monotheistic, male-dominated culture that still plagues our society,” Gary said. Raelian spiritual leader Maitreya Rael, whose support of gender equality inspired the creation of GoTopless in 2007, explained his position: “Muslims are criticized for forcing their women to wear burqas or niqabs, but the exact same sexist mindset forces Western women to wear tops in public. Hypocritical politicians are quick to support equal gender rights but under no circumstances would they advocate for topless equality!” Rael added that cultural revolutions are made of small details, contrary to what people think. “The battle for equal topless rights appears insignificant compared to wars, violence or child starvation, yet its achievement will have a direct, healing impact on these male-created horrors,” he said. “GoTopless is changing the world by pushing societies to give the exact same rights to women as they do to men in all areas and without exceptions – especially in the taboo area of topless equality. That’s a blow to the core of male dominance, since controlling women’s bodies has always been a leitmotif for that culture.” Gary agrees. “GoTopless frees women from the body guilt and shame they’ve been conditioned to dutifully endure for centuries. But it also frees the men from their obsessive behavior over breasts that is a direct consequence of discriminatory topless laws.” She said Rael emphatically states that “when women are fully empowered and in power, their caring nature as life bearers will heal the unspeakable mess left in a world ruled exclusively by testosterone.” “Equal gender topless rights in the 21st century will empower women much as equal gender voting rights did in the 20th century,” Gary said. “So go topless and change the world!”
