Cardinal-designate Nichols’ LGBT group rejects Church’s use of ‘objectively disordered’ in context of homosexuality

The LGBT Catholics Westminster Pastoral Council (formerly known as the Soho Masses Pastoral Council) has expressed its rejection of the Church’s use of the term ‘objectively disordered’ in the context of homosexuality. The LGBT Catholics Westminster Pastoral Council received Archbishop Nichols’ pastoral mandate in 2013 to provide pastoral care to the persons with the homosexual inclination in the Archdiocese of Westminster. Cardinal-designate Nichols has made himself a hostage to fortune by giving his personal pastoral mandate to the Soho Masses Pastoral Council, now re-branded as the LGBT Catholics Westminster Pastoral Council. How will he explain to the Extraordinary Synod in October this year that the group he has charged with the pastoral care of persons with the homosexual inclination has rejected a key understanding of homosexuality as expressed by the Magisterium? . . . → Read More: Cardinal-designate Nichols’ LGBT group rejects Church’s use of ‘objectively disordered’ in context of homosexuality

Is Austen Ivereigh right in thinking that Pope Francis would be extremely sympathetic to the Soho masses?

Commenting on the announcement that Archbishop Nichols is to be made a cardinal and his support for the Soho Masses Austen Ivereigh, the co-ordinator of Catholic Voices, has told The Guardian, ‘If anything, I think Francis would be extremely sympathetic to the Soho masses.’ Pope Francis hasn’t spoken on this issue, but he did indicate when he was Archbishop of Buenos Aires that he was not sympathetic to what Austen Ivereigh calls an open-door policy in the church regarding the sacraments. In 2007 Cardinal Bergoglio presented pro-life guidelines on behalf of the Argentinian bishops. ‘Eucharistic coherence’ is important to Pope Francis, which means he holds that people cannot receive Holy Communion and at the same time act or speak against the commandments. In the light of this it is highly unlikely that Pope Francis would be extremely sympathetic to the Soho masses if they involved Catholics engaged in homosexual sex and openly dissenting from the Church’s doctrine receiving Holy Communion. . . . → Read More: Is Austen Ivereigh right in thinking that Pope Francis would be extremely sympathetic to the Soho masses?

Archbishop Nichols’ LGBT Farm St group promotes conference featuring two active homosexual Catholic priests

In 2012 Archbishop Nichols announced a review of the Soho Masses Pastoral Council that would, among other things, ensure these Masses are not occasions for opposition to the Church’s teaching on sexuality. So now we have Archbishop Nichols’ LGBT Farm St group promoting a conference opposed to the Church’s teaching on sexuality. The links between the dissenters behind A Call to Action and the Soho Masses Pastoral Council

In a previous post on ACTA Protect the Pope revealed links between leading members of ACTA and the Women’s Ordination Conference, the Roman Catholic Caucus of the Lesbian & Gay Christian Movement and Catholic for a Changing Church. Now it has been clearly established that there are links between ACTA and the Soho Masses Pastoral Council. A Call to Action is an umbrella organisation for Catholics who actively dissent from the doctrine and discipline of the Catholic Church. It is to be hoped that there will be no further meetings between the Bishops Conference and ACTA. . . . → Read More: The links between the dissenters behind A Call to Action and the Soho Masses Pastoral Council

Is this the start of the Soho Masses Pastoral Council taking over the 18:15 pm Farm Street Masses?

No one can complain about the provision of pastoral care to persons suffering the condition of homosexuality, because it is an act of mercy to help others with a disordered sexual attraction lead chaste lives according to God’s purpose for sexuality. But this is not what the Soho Masses Pastoral Council does. The Soho Masses Pastoral Council celebrates and affirms this disordered sexual attraction. Archbishop Nichols must know this, but he decided not to disband the Soho Masses Pastoral Council and instead gave them his mandate to organise pastoral provision for homosexuals in London. This one move on his part has guaranteed that they will not integrate into an ordinary Catholic parish but will remain a distinct group. The concern must be that the SMPC plans to gradually take over the 18.15 pm Masses at Farm Street until it is in a position to reproduce the ‘rainbow’ Masses of Warwick Square. . . . → Read More: Is this the start of the Soho Masses Pastoral Council taking over the 18:15 pm Farm Street Masses?

Soho Masses Group claims Archbishop Nichols and Bishop Conry have agreed to discuss expansion plans

The Next Steps programme that Terence Weldon intends to discuss with Archbishop Nichols and Bishop Conry derives from the work of New Ways Ministry’s Frank de Benardo which has been condemned by the US Bishops Conference , ‘ in no manner is the position proposed by New Ways Ministry in conformity with Catholic teaching and in no manner is this organization authorized to speak on behalf of the Catholic Church or to identify itself as a Catholic organization.’ It is to be hoped that when Archbishop Nichols and Bishop Conry meet with Terence Weldon that they will bear in mind their collegial union with the US bishops and Terence Weldon’s open defiance of the Church’s teaching on sexual morality. . . . → Read More: Soho Masses Group claims Archbishop Nichols and Bishop Conry have agreed to discuss expansion plans

Archbishop Nichols’ Soho Masses Group plans to emulate New Ways Ministry condemned by the US Bishops for dissent

Archbishop Nichols should take note of the fact that the Soho Masses Pastoral Council is planning to model its pastoral outreach,in his name and with his mandate, on the work of an organisation condemned by the US bishops for not being in conformity with Church teaching to the extent that the faithful have been warned that it is not ‘a Catholic organisation’. The decision of the Soho Masses Pastoral Council to model itself on the New Ways Ministry shows the mistake Archbishop Nichols has made in only transferring the Soho Masses to Farm Street and failing to disband the Soho Masses Pastoral Council. But his greater mistake was to bless the Soho Masses Pastoral Council with his mandate, because every time they dissent from the teaching of the Church they do so in his name and with his authority. . . . → Read More: Archbishop Nichols’ Soho Masses Group plans to emulate New Ways Ministry condemned by the US Bishops for dissent
