DJ and writer Fiona Scott-Norman unveils her pick of the State Library's extensive collection of vinyl records in a Melbourne Music Week celebration of the musical artefacts. Melbourne Chamber Orchestra pays tribute to British composers and British-inspired arrangements in a seven-part program titled The London Sketchbook. Violin soloist and 2014 Symphony Australia Young Performer of the Year Grace Clifford joins the ensemble to perform Vaughan-William's Lark Ascending and Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E Minor.

Melbourne-based jazz vocalist Mel Searle and her band present a 135-minute homage to Ella Fitzgerald, widely regarded as the Queen of Jazz and the First Lady of Song. Dubbed The Ella Experience, the performance is Searle's interpretation of the hits that made the American crooner a household name.

Peter Milley's Cairo Club Orchestra revel in the launch of their latest CD, The Man from the South, with a gig featuring original vintage scores complemented by antique microphones and instruments. Known for recreating the jazz sounds of the '20s and '30s, vocalist Nichaud Fitzgibbon joins the band.

A few years ago, American writer Annie Baker gave Uncle Vanya, Anton Chekhov's famous play, a colloquial and contemporary makeover. Nadia Tass directs a local production of the adaptation. Opening this weekend, the story about life, love and the pursuit of happiness stars David Whiteley, Rosie Lockhart, Olga Makeeva, Eva Seymour and Ben Prendergast. Ends December 17.

Three dancers move in harmony with a pulsating floor in Ashley Dyer's latest creation, Tremor. When charged with audible and sub-sonic sound, a custom-built floor, made from 13 shake tables and more than 230 metal poles, vibrates in choreographed patterns. The performance aims to explore the link between motion, pressure and vibration.

Susie Dee directs Nicci Wilks and Kate Sherman in Animal, an exploration of violence against women. Two sisters living in a remote town find themselves at breaking point and prepare for an escape to the outside world. A Koorie elder, ex-con, activist, and award-winning actor, Jack Charles' 72-year journey is unparalleled. The 2015 Victorian Senior of the Year's live autobiography had a sellout season at the Melbourne International Arts Festival in 2010.

Contemporary brasserie Oter hosts a Young Chefs Lunch for The Age's Good Food Month. EXHIBITION

Great news for Toni Maticevski's fans: the Australian fashion designer's Dark Wonderland exhibition has been extended to next year. The curated pieces, largely from Maticevski's personal archive, form a gallery of his early influences through to his current practices. Programs associated with the showcase include tomorrow's Fashion Grove, where visitors can create their own costume using Maticevski's fabrics, and parade their outfit to disco music.
