Sam Mitchell, Trent Cotchin to receive Brownlow medals at lunch function

The AFL Commission will award a Brownlow Medal each to 2012 winners Trent Cotchin and Sam Mitchell at a ceremony in Melbourne on Tuesday December 13.

After consulting with both players, Cotchin and Mitchell will be presented with their medals at a lunchtime function as part of the Commission's meeting that day, followed by a "private gathering" for bothe players that afternoon.

The pair were awarded the league's best-and-fairest honour retrospectively after 2012 winner Jobe Watson this month opted to return his medal in the wake of the Essendon supplements scandal.

Mitchell and Cotchin finished equal second to Watson in the 2012 count.
