Tesla Motors, Inc. is an American automotive and energy storage company that designs, manufactures, and sells luxuryelectric cars, electric vehicle powertrain components, and battery products. Tesla Motors is a public company that trades on the NASDAQ stock exchange under the symbol TSLA. During the first quarter of 2013, Tesla posted profits for the first time in its history.
Tesla first gained widespread attention following their production of the Tesla Roadster, the first fully electric sports car. The company's second vehicle is the Model S, a fully electric luxury sedan, which was followed by the Model X, a crossover. Its next vehicle is the Model 3. Global Model S sales passed the 100,000 unit milestone in December 2015, three and a half years after its introduction. The Model S was the world's best selling plug-in electric vehicle in 2015.As of December 2015, the Model S ranks as the world's second best selling plug-in car in history after the Nissan Leaf.
Tesla also markets electric powertrain components, including lithium-ion battery packs, to automakers including Daimler and Toyota. CEO Elon Musk has said that he envisions Tesla Motors as an independent automaker, aimed at eventually offering electric cars at prices affordable to the average consumer. Pricing for the Tesla Model 3 is expected to start at US$35,000 before any government incentives, and deliveries are expected to begin by 2017. In 2015, Tesla announced Tesla Energy, a suite of batteries for homes (Powerwall), businesses, and utilities (Powerpack).

EPA rates its energy consumption at 237.5 watt·hour per kilometer (38 kWh/100 mi or 24 kWh/100 km) for a combined fuel economy of 89 miles per gallon gasoline equivalent (2.64 L/100 km or 107 mpg-imp).
The Model S became the first electric car to top the monthly new car sales ranking in any country, twice leading in Norway, in September and again in December 2013; and also in Denmark in December 2015. Global Model S sales passed the 100,000 unit milestone in December 2015.
The Model S ranked as the world's best selling plug-in electric vehicle in 2015, up from second best in 2014. The Model S also ranked as the top selling plug-in electric car in the U.S. in 2015.As of December 2015, the leading markets are the United States with a 60% share of global sales and Norway with 9.4%. Other leading country markets are China, the Netherlands, Canada, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland .As of December 2015, the Model S ranks as the world's second best selling plug-in car in history after the Nissan Leaf.
The unvieling of the Tesla Model 3 recently garnered enormous interest around the world. When will they make them? How will they make that many? Where will the batteries come from and why do I have a crush on the French Minister of Energy? Spied this in Palo Alto last week on the 280. I was driving north when I saw three teslas merging on to the highway. It took me a few seconds to realize it was a Model 3, and once I did I'm pretty sure I executed the fastest three lane change maneuver in history. Sorry for the vertical video everyone. I was driving and my friend Aaron was recording (blame him). At the time we weren't thinking that thousands of people would watch in on youtube. We both reserved one the first day so we were in full nerd-out mode seeing one in the wild.

Tesla Motors: Towing With a TESLA Part 1 - Teardrop Camper Power Consumption, Autopilot & Handling =============================================== So, you have all asked for it, and I am delivering. After having a Hitch on my first Model S 60kWh for nearly 2 years, and only towing a log splitter and a whole house generator to it's new owner (mostly used the hitch for hitch mounted cargo baskets, and that, I used a LOT), I have finally taken the plunge and purchased/bartered for a rather nice, Little Guy teardrop trailer. It is not the exact Teardrop I had in mind, but the price was Excellent! (In fact, so good that I have already re-listed the trailer to resell, and if I can sell, I will be able to get the style I was originally looking for. How about that!). Anyways, back to the details....
Tesla’s Model S is strikingly fast and eerily quiet – and it (almost) drives itself, using a battery of sensors that map the road and obstacles on all sides. But what happens in a dense and rapidly changing environment like New York City? We took a test drive to find out. Turns out the future of autonomous driving looks … complicated. This weekend I was leant the Tesla Model S electric car to test drive. Travelling from Henley-on-Thames to Suffolk, I'm driving the Tesla Model S 90D all-wheel drive version that has a range of around 300 miles per charge. During the drive, I test the amazing autopilot feature (self-drive mode) as well as auto park. Tesla Motors: Refresh Model S No Battery Terminals!!!!! ================================= It appears, that, along with the Refreshed Model S, and the advancements in both design and function we gained, we LOST a IMPORTANT "emergency" road side service tool.... The 12v Jump Terminals. Located behind the nose cone in the Original design cars, the Refreshed Model S has no Nosecone. And as such, Tesla has removed the jumper terminals. See my original Roadside Service Model S Video Here (From 2013): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPUcUOd1r1w These terminals are now gone, and requires the opening of the hood, followed by removal of a plastic shield, then, exposure and removal of the Bio-Defense HEPA Filter. So if your 12v is dead, good luck getting going again.... Will need to find out what...
