Mike Hedges is a British audio producer/engineer.
Mike Hedges started as a tape-op at Morgan Studios in London in the late 1970s. Having graduated to engineer, he went freelance in 1981 and became an engineer/producer.
Hedges' first major collaboration was with The Cure, and resulted in their debut single "Killing an Arab". Hedges opened his own facility, the Playground, designed by Acoustician Andy Munro, in nearby Camden Town where he continued to work with The Cure as well as with the Associates and Siouxsie and the Banshees.
His subsequent credits have included U2, Dido, The Undertones, Manic Street Preachers, Travis, Texas, The Beautiful South, and The Priests. He produced Manic Street Preachers' Everything Must Go, which was voted best album of 1996 by Q, Vox, Select and Music Week, and won the BRIT Award for Album Of The Year.
Mike Hedges has also worked as part of the musical team for the film Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
Between 1996 and 2000, Hedges' work was continuously nominated for the Grammy awards for four successive years, which no other British producer has done.
Mike is an abbreviation or shorthand for Michael.
The name Mike may refer to:
The La's were an English rock band from Liverpool, originally active from 1983 until 1992. Fronted by singer, songwriter and guitarist Lee Mavers, the group are best known for their hit single "There She Goes". The band was formed by Mike Badger in 1983 and Mavers joined the next year, although for most of the group's history, the frequently changing line-up revolved around the core duo of Lee Mavers (vocals, guitar) and John Power (bass, backing vocals) along with numerous other guitarists and drummers including Paul Hemmings, John "Timmo" Timson, Peter "Cammy" Cammell, Iain Templeton, John "Boo" Byrne, Chris Sharrock, Barry Sutton, and Neil Mavers.
After the departure of Badger in late 1986, the band signed to Go! Discs in 1987 and commenced recording of their debut album. Following the release of singles "Way Out" (1987), "There She Goes" (1988) and "Timeless Melody" (1990) and having aborted several recording sessions with different producers, the band released their debut album The La's in 1990 to critical acclaim and modest commercial success. John Power left The La's to form Cast and the group entered a prolonged hiatus in 1992 which lasted almost two decades. The group later reformed briefly in the mid-1990s, 2005 and 2011. However, no new recordings have been released.
Michael Alden Hedges (December 31, 1953 – December 2, 1997) was an American composer, acoustic guitarist and singer-songwriter. He is known for having pioneered percussive fingerstyle guitar, the influence of which can now be heard in the compositions and playing of many guitarists.
Michael hedges was born in Sacramento, the son of Dr. Thayne Alden Hedges and Ruth Evelyn Hedges Ipsen. Hedges' life in music began where grew up in Enid, Oklahoma, as he flirted with various instruments before focusing on flute and guitar. He eventually enrolled at Phillips University in Enid to study classical guitar and composition under E. J. Ulrich. Subsequently Hedges studied as a composition major at Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland, where he applied his classically trained musical background in combination with various unusual techniques to the steel-string acoustic guitar.
Hedges covered a wide range of musical styles and was considered an extremely dynamic performer in concert. Hedges made ends meet playing and singing in pubs and restaurants in the Baltimore Metro area during his tenure at Peabody. From 1976 to 1977 he played electric guitar and flute for a local jazzy folk rock group called Lotus Band, which he left to start performing solo acoustic. In 1980, he made plans to move to California to study music at Stanford University.
Sarah Brightman (born 14 August 1960) is an English classical crossover soprano, actress, songwriter and dancer. She has sung in many languages, including English, Spanish, French, Latin, German, Turkish, Italian, Russian, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese and Catalan.
Brightman began her career as a member of the dance troupe Hot Gossip and released several disco singles as a solo performer. In 1981, she made her West End musical theatre debut in Cats and met composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, whom she married. She went on to star in several West End and Broadway musicals, including The Phantom of the Opera, where she originated the role of Christine Daaé. The Original London Cast Album of the musical was released in CD format in 1987 and sold 40 million copies worldwide, making it the biggest-selling cast album of all time.
After retiring from the stage and divorcing Lloyd Webber, Brightman resumed her music career with former Enigma producer Frank Peterson, this time as a classical crossover artist. She is often credited as the creator of this genre and remains among the most prominent performers, with worldwide sales of more than 30 million records and 2 million DVDs, establishing herself as the world's best-selling soprano of all time.

This is from the 4CD Callin' All box set. The tape speed was wrong, so I corrected it, and did a little work to tidy up the sound.
I have two different La's bootlegs sourced from 1980s C90 audio cassettes. One appears to contain "Side A" of the mixed La's Hedges album. The other bootleg appears to contain "Side B". I have sequenced them here in the order the songs appear. All I have done here is dusted them off, assembled them, tuned them (both tapes go out of time and pitch). It sounds coherent. I have tuned the songs to eachother, to Lee, his voice, his guitar and my guitar, it seemed the best choice to balance it out. It is NOT as clear as the "Deluxe" version. These seem to be further down the mixing process. There is a different magic in these hissy tracks. More vocals, more guitar parts, better layering. It is arguably not even finished. The same article quotes Mike Hedges as saying the album was unfinished...

For the first time in modern history, a fringe wing of Christian extremists have obtained the highest seats of power in the US government—from Mike Pence to Betsy DeVos. This new development is coupled with the emergence of the Alt Right, the Trump movement, and the rise of fascist movements abroad. Renowned journalist and author Chris Hedges has embedded himself in what he calls “Christianized Fascism” and warns that this is the biggest danger we face under Trump. https://videosenglish.telesurtv.net/video/647589/the-empire-files-647589/

The La's debut album, compiled from alternative versions. Not, as far as I know, endorsed by the band, but the "I told you it was crap!" signature is infact Lee's and his opinion of the Lillywhite album. It's fine to like either... this is just my compilation of alternative versions of the songs I think capture what the band were about better. ■ Son of a Gun ( Jeremy Allom mix 1988) ■ I Can't Sleep (Bob Harris Radio Session 1989) ■ Timeless Melody (Unreleased Single Early Version) ■ Liberty Ship (Mick Moss / Picket Session Version 2) ■ There She Goes (Early single mix - Woodcray studios 1988) ■ Doledrum (Dave Allen version 1987) ■ Feelin' (Nick Campbell radio session 1988) ■ Way Out (Nick Campbell radio session 1988) ■ IOU (Mike Hedges mix 1988) ■ Freedom Song (Mike Hedges mix 1988) ■ Fai...
Article and photos: http://bit.ly/DesaparecidosRR PG’s Chris Kies caught up the lead guitarist Denver Dalley who covers the band’s whole setup before Desaparecidos’ headlining show at Nashville’s Mercy Lounge. This is Denver Dalley’s main guitar—a 1977 Gibson RD Standard. He said he prefers the oddly shaped axe because it fits his body type due to its contours, weight, and scale length (25.5"), or in his words, “It’s tall and awkward like me so I’ve had an immediate kinship with them.” This was the first RD he ever bought and has been his No. 1 ever since because he feels he knows it best. He uses some electrical tape to keep the pickup selector in the bridge position. All his guitars are equipped with D’Addario .011–.049 strings and Grolsch beer-bottle straplocks. And all of Desa’s curr...

This panel marks the 4th anniversary of Julian Assange’s refuge in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London. It features Chris Hedges, Amy Goodman, Jeremy Scahill, Carey Shenkman, and Margaret Ratner. At the end, it features a live video appearance by Julian Assange himself. The sound seems just a bit off from the video, but that's how it was originally uploaded. The original post is here, but it includes some weird filler at the beginning, which I cut: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNLkjmx-bic I believe this video is from Summer 2016.
There are forgotten corners of this country where Americans are trapped in endless cycles of poverty, powerlessness, and despair as a direct result of capitalistic greed. Journalist Chris Hedges calls these places “sacrifice zones,” and joins Bill this week on Moyers & Company to explore how areas like Camden, New Jersey; Immokalee, Florida; and parts of West Virginia suffer while the corporations that plundered them thrive. “These are areas that have been destroyed for quarterly profit. We're talking about environmentally destroyed, communities destroyed, human beings destroyed, families destroyed,” Hedges tells Bill. “It's the willingness on the part of people who seek personal enrichment to destroy other human beings… And because the mechanisms of governance can no longer control them, ...
