The Seine (/seɪn/ SAYN; French: La Seine, pronounced: [la sɛːn]) is a 776-kilometre (482 mi) long river and an important commercial waterway within the Paris Basin in the north of France. It rises at Source-Seine, 30 kilometres (19 mi) northwest of Dijon in northeastern France in the Langres plateau, flowing through Paris and into the English Channel at Le Havre (and Honfleur on the left bank). It is navigable by ocean-going vessels as far as Rouen, 120 kilometres (75 mi) from the sea. Over 60 percent of its length, as far as Burgundy, is negotiable by commercial riverboats and nearly its whole length is available for recreational boating; excursion boats offer sightseeing tours of the Rive Droite and Rive Gauche within the city of Paris.
There are 37 bridges within Paris and dozens more spanning the river outside the city. Examples in Paris include the Pont Louis-Philippe and Pont Neuf, the latter of which dates back to 1607. Outside the city, examples include the Pont de Normandie, one of the longest cable-stayed bridges in the world, which links Le Havre to Honfleur.
Paris (UK: /ˈpærɪs/ PARR-iss; US: i/ˈpɛərɪs/ PAIR-iss; French: [paʁi]) is the capital and most populous city of France. Situated on the Seine River, in the north of the country, it is in the centre of the Île-de-France region, also known as the région parisienne, "Paris Region". The City of Paris has an area of 105 km² (41 mi²) and a population of 2,241,346 (2014 estimate) within its administrative borders essentially unchanged since 1860.
Since the 19th century, the built-up area of Paris has grown far beyond its administrative borders; together with its suburbs, the whole agglomeration has a population of 10,550,350 (Jan. 2012 census).Paris' metropolitan area spans most of the Paris region and has a population of 12,341,418 (Jan. 2012 census), or one-fifth of the population of France. The administrative region covers 12,012 km² (4,638 mi²), with approximately 12 million inhabitants as of 2014, and has its own regional council and president.
Paris was founded in the 3rd century BC by a Celtic people called the Parisii, who gave the city its name. By the 12th century, Paris was the largest city in the western world, a prosperous trading centre, and the home of the University of Paris, one of the first in Europe. In the 18th century, it was the centre stage for the French Revolution, and became an important centre of finance, commerce, fashion, science, and the arts, a position it still retains today.
A river is a natural flowing watercourse, usually freshwater, flowing towards an ocean, sea, lake or another river. In some cases a river flows into the ground and becomes dry at the end of its course without reaching another body of water. Small rivers can be referred to using names such as stream, creek, brook, rivulet, and rill. There are no official definitions for the generic term river as applied to geographic features, although in some countries or communities a stream is defined by its size. Many names for small rivers are specific to geographic location; examples are "run" in some parts of the United States, "burn" in Scotland and northeast England, and "beck" in northern England. Sometimes a river is defined as being larger than a creek, but not always: the language is vague.
Rivers are part of the hydrological cycle. Water generally collects in a river from precipitation through a drainage basin from surface runoff and other sources such as groundwater recharge, springs, and the release of stored water in natural ice and snowpacks (e.g. from glaciers). Potamology is the scientific study of rivers while limnology is the study of inland waters in general.

Heavy rains in France have caused flooding across the country, and at least one person has died. The country's national police force posted pictures of evacuations, using boats to help assist people in the flooded streets. It's reportedly the worst flooding the country has seen in a century, and that flood — in 1910 — is commonly referred to as the "Great Flood of Paris," which lasted about 45 days. This most recent flooding includes the Seine River in Paris. The river's banks overflowed, rising almost 15 feet above its normal height, and officials say the Seine could reach levels as high as 17 feet over the weekend. Although, 17 feet is still low compared to the 28 feet the river gained in the 1910 flood. The weather conditions are bad news for sports tournaments. French Open of...
PARIS —Next year Paris will test a futuristic, prototype water taxi that will allow people glide along the Seine River, two feet above the water. The vessel, named Sea Bubble, can travel up to 30 kilometers per hour and can seat five people including a driver. According to the Telegraph, the vessel’s chassis will be made of fiberglass and high density foam. Sea Bubble will also reportedly have a hydrofoil attached to its hull that will reduce drag and help it ‘fly’ just above the water, reported the Telegraph. The developers also hope that Sea Bubble vessels could eventually be ordered through vehicle-hailing apps like Uber. If successful in France, they also hope to use Sea Bubble vessels in waterways in other cities such as London, Geneva and elsewhere. ------------------------...

Paris is the ‘city of light’, the ‘city of love’ the ‘capital of fashion’. The bank of the Seine, the Montmartre and the Quartier Latin tell us of artists: about Dumas, Zola, and Victor Hugo who depicted the city in unforgettable literary pieces and about painters who did the same on canvas. On moonlit nights, and foggy autumn mornings the shadows of Modigliani, Renoir and Toulouse-Lautrec appear. Every corner is famous from a French movie, and we wait for Jean Gabin and Belmondo to appear on the next street. The streets and squares remind us of the Sun King, the ‘man in the iron mask’ and Napoleon. In the cafes old chansons are sung on the voice of Edith Piaf and Yves Montand. The wheel of the Moulin Rouge is unstoppable, while in the halls of the Louvre Leonardo’s Mona Lisa is smiling en...

Abandona pronto este lugar
porque sé que en poco tiempo va a estallar.
Nadie sabe lo que pasará
cuando el caos queme hoy la ciudad.
Y que haremos cuando empiece la función,
si las cosas ya superan la ficción.
Rock and roll, dime tu,
Rock and roll, dime tu,
para vos, es cara o cruz.
Esta noche no podré dormir,
aunque igual la pesadilla hoy es aquí.
Somos hijos de una sociedad
que no tiene corazón para nada.
Y no sé cómo salir de esta fricción;
y me pierdo por las calles a gritar:
Rock and roll, dime tu,
para vos, es cara o cruz.
