Mali (ⁱ/ˈmɑːli/; French: [maˈli]), officially the Republic of Mali (French: République du Mali), is a landlocked country in West Africa. Mali is the eighth-largest country in Africa, with an area of just over 1,240,000 square kilometres (480,000 sq mi). The population of Mali is 14.5 million. Its capital is Bamako. Mali consists of eight regions and its borders on the north reach deep into the middle of the Sahara Desert, while the country's southern part, where the majority of inhabitants live, features the Niger and Senegal rivers. The country's economy centers on agriculture and fishing. Some of Mali's prominent natural resources include gold, being the third largest producer of gold in the African continent, and salt. About half the population lives below the international poverty line of $1.25 (U.S.) a day. A majority of the population (55%) are non-denominational Muslims.

Present-day Mali was once part of three West African empires that controlled trans-Saharan trade: the Ghana Empire, the Mali Empire (for which Mali is named), and the Songhai Empire. During its golden age, there was a flourishing of mathematics, astronomy, literature, and art. At its peak in 1300, the Mali Empire covered an area about twice the size of modern-day France and stretched to the west coast of Africa. In the late 19th century, during the Scramble for Africa, France seized control of Mali, making it a part of French Sudan. French Sudan (then known as the Sudanese Republic) joined with Senegal in 1959, achieving independence in 1960 as the Mali Federation. Shortly thereafter, following Senegal's withdrawal from the federation, the Sudanese Republic declared itself the independent Republic of Mali. After a long period of one-party rule, a coup in 1991 led to the writing of a new constitution and the establishment of Mali as a democratic, multi-party state.

Mitchy Slick is an American rapper from San Diego, California. He is a member of the group Strong Arm Steady, along with rappers Phil Da Agony and Krondon. He performs solo with three albums released in addition to many collaborations. Mitchy Slick is the CEO of Wrongkind Records and is currently signed to Hoo-Bangin' Records.

A native of San Diego, California rap veteran Mitchy Slick is a solo artist and one-third of Stones Throw Records hip-hop trio Strong Arm Steady.

Founder and CEO, Slick branded Tha Wrongkind, a familial collective of artists, producers, deejays and entrepreneurs.

Slick spent his formative years in the southeastern division of San Diego, namely the Lincoln Park area. He later attended Prairie View A&M in Prairie View, Texas and returned to his hometown in California, where he embarked on his musical career. Mitchy was featured on Gangland about the San Diego Lincoln Park Bloods, a gang he is a member of.

Slick’s debut album, Trigeration Station was released in 2001 and peaked at #13 on Billboard’s Top Independent Albums chart that same year.

Trinidad James

Nicholas Williams (born September 23, 1987), better known by his stage name Trinidad James (often stylized as Trinidad Jame$), is an Trinidadian-American rapper based out of Atlanta, Georgia. In 2012, he signed a recording contract with Def Jam Recordings. Without a debut album being released, he was dropped from the label in 2014, although he continues to release music as an independent artist.

Early life

Nicholas Williams was born on September 23, 1987, in Port of Spain, Trinidad. His family moved to Canada, Florida, and New York before settling in Bronx, New York. As a child, he went to Catholic school. He has stated he cannot remember any parts of his life before the age of seven because of a head injury. In the eighth grade, he moved to New York, where he began playing basketball. He began rapping in November 2011. He has listed Jay-Z, Cam'ron, T.I., and Young Jeezy, as his influences.

Career

James' debut single, "All Gold Everything", which has charted on the US Billboard Hot 100 and US R&B/Hip Hop charts. The song was taken from his debut mixtape, Don't Be S.A.F.E. (Sensitive As Fuck Everyday), which was released on July 31, 2012, and officially re-released with a music video on October 16, 2012. On December 13, 2012, it was announced, James has signed a joint venture with Def Jam Records for approximately $2 million. In January, Def Jam re-released Don't Be S.A.F.E to iTunes, which included the remix to "All Gold Everything" featuring 2 Chainz, T.I., and Young Jeezy.
