The ethnic groups in Europe are the focus of European ethnology, the field of anthropology related to the various ethnic groups that reside in the nations of Europe. According to German monograph Minderheitenrechte in Europa co-edited by Pan and Pfeil (2002) there are 87 distinct peoples of Europe, of which 33 form the majority population in at least one sovereign state, while the remaining 54 constitute ethnic minorities. The total number of national minority populations in Europe is estimated at 105 million people, or 14% of 770 million Europeans.
There is no precise or universally accepted definition of the terms "ethnic group" or "nationality". In the context of European ethnography in particular, the terms ethnic group, people (without nation state), nationality, national minority, ethnic minority, linguistic community, linguistic group and linguistic minority are used as mostly synonymous, although preference may vary in usage with respect to the situation specific to the individual countries of Europe.
The Economist is an English language weekly newspaper owned by the Economist Group and edited in offices based in London. Continuous publication began under founder James Wilson in September 1843. For historical reasons, The Economist refers to itself as a newspaper, but each print edition appears on small glossy paper like a news magazine. In 2006, its average weekly circulation was reported to be 1.5 million, about half of which were sold in the United States.
The publication belongs to The Economist Group. It is 50% owned by private investors and 50% by Exor, the Agnelli holding company, and the Rothschild banking family of England. Exor and the Rothschilds are represented on the Board of Directors. A board of trustees formally appoints the editor, who cannot be removed without its permission. Although The Economist has a global emphasis and scope, about two-thirds of the 75 staff journalists are based in the City of Westminster, London. As of March 2014, the Economist Group declared operating profit of £59m. Previous major shareholders include Pearson PLC.

Queuing, tea and talking about the weather. Are us Brits really that predictable? A few UK based Europeans who we spoke to (before the referendum) seemed to think so. What's more, they wouldn't have it any other way. We'll say 'cheers' to that. -- Click here to subscribe to BBC Three: http://bit.ly/Subscribe-to-BBCThree Did you know that we’re up to other things in other places too? Koreans trying to distinguish Europeans quiz. A lot of my Korean friends told me that for them it is really hard to tell Europeans apart, so I wanted to check how really difficult it is… I chose some of the countries were people look most different in Europe (as much as possible), and I got quite stereotypical pictures from those countries. There are perhaps couple of tricky pictures, but if you grew up in Europe and travelled around this should be fairly simple… It seems, just as my friends told me, for Koreans it is far from simple. Oh these tattered
imaginary wings
Want to make them real
real
Oh these many
useless coverings
Want to make throw away
away
You are the shelter in the winter rain
You are the child underneath the pain
You are
Feeling heavy
you won’t let it down
It’s not their not
their
Sparrow falling
until she’s on the ground
Your not alone
alone
You are the caged one who is finally free
You are the oasis in the desert heat
You are the shelter in the winter rain
You are the child underneath the pain
You hold the answer though you can’t explain
What you are to me
