Parmar

The Paramara (also known as Panwar, Punwar and Parmar) are a RajputandGurjar tribe in North India who claim descent from the mythological Agnivansha dynasty. A Garasia clan also uses this title, claiming descent from the Rajputs.

Ethnographic classification

Denzil Ibbetson, an administrator of the British Raj, classified the Paramara as a tribe rather than as a caste. He believed, like Nesfield, that the society of the Northwest Frontier Province and Punjab Province in British India did not permit the rigid imposition of an administratively-defined caste construct as his colleague, Herbert Hope Risley preferred. According to Ibbetson, society in Punjab was less governed by ideas of caste based on varna and instead was more open and fluid. Tribes, which he considered to be kin-based groups that dominated small areas, were the dominant feature of rural life. Caste designators, such as Jat and Rajput, were status-based titles to which any tribe that rose to social prominence could lay a claim, and which could be dismissed by their peers if they declined. Susan Bayly, a modern anthropologist, considers him to have had "a high degree of accuracy in his observations of Punjab society ... [I]n his writings we really do see the beginnings of modern, regionally based Indian anthropology."

Juhi Parmar

Juhi Parmar (born 14 December 1980 in Ujjain) is an Indian TV personality and an anchor, actress, television presenter, singer and dancer. She is the winner of fifth season of the reality television show Big Boss that aired on Colors TV.

Personal life

Juhi Parmar, of Gujarati heritage is married to television personality and businessman Sachin Shroff. They got married on 15 February 2009, after 5 months of courtship. The couple have a daughter, Samaira Shroff, born on 27 January 2013. Parents live in Mansarovar, Jaipur.

Career

In 2013, Parmar has won The Miss Rajasthan title. She started her career with a serial Woh on Zee TV. Her biggest break came when she became a household name for her portrayal as Kumkum in Star Plus's Indian soap opera Kumkum - Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan for which she also won the Best Actress (Critics) at the Indian Telly Awards in 2005. She was also nominated at various Awards ceremonies and has also won many awards as Favorite Bahu, Favorite Patni and Favorite Bhabhiat Star Parivaar Awards for her portrayal in Kumkum - Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan. She gained immense popularity through this show.

Sachin Shroff

Sachin Shroff is a businessman and TV personality. He is an actor, anchor and dancer.

He played Gyan in Har Ghar Kuch Kehta Hai and Arjun in Naaginn. Other appearances include Sinndoor Tere Naam Ka, Saat Phere, Naam Gum Jayega, Shagun, and Vishwas.

Upendra Trivedi

Upendra Jethalal Trivedi (14 July 1936 – 4 January 2015) was an Indian film and stage actor, director and producer who was one of the most prolific actors of Gujarati cinema. He was also politically active. He was also known as Abhinay SamratSamrat.

Early life

Upendra Trivedi was born on 14 July 1936 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India. His family hailed from Kukadia village near Idar, Gujarat. His parents moved to Ujjain where he completed his education. He lived with his elder brother in Mumbai in early life. He worked as coolie and labourer in umbrella manufacturing factory when his father who was a mill worker suffered paralysis.

Trivedi was one of the four siblings – three brothers and a sister. He did his graduation from the Bombay University in Arts faculty. His younger brother, Arvind Trivedi, is also well-known actor who played Ravana in the Hindi epic TV serial, Ramayana. Trivedi’s elder brother, Bhalchandra, was an educationist.

Considered as one of the most well-known actors of the Gujarati film industry, Trivedi had acted in both Gujarati theatre and films.
