Seville Travel Video - If any one place comes close to rolling together everything that's quintessentially Andalucian, it's Seville. Here we show big walking route through this formerly Jewish district, strolling a couple of miles back in time. It'll take you right through the center including shopping areas, past the Cathedral, Alcazar and the old quarter of Santa Cruz where we're going to focus our attention for this segment.
Be advised many of these little streets in Santa Cruz and the little plazas have been discovered by the tourists, so depending on when you're here the main lanes might get a little crowded but there's always the lovely side lanes that you can find for a more peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. So just follow your nose when you're wandering around in Santa Cruz district, and we will give you some tips here on how to navigate and what to see.
Among Europe’s best neighborhoods for strolling, the main part of this warren is only about six blocks in each direction, enabling you to wander freely and discover it in a couple of hours. Santa Cruz is so magical you should return in the warm atmosphere of early evening to appreciate the soft lighting, and settle into a quaint little tavern for dinner. Once is just not enough for a special district like this, which also has several small hotels that make ideal places to stay.

Nach einer späten Legende wurde die Stadt von dem griechischen Helden Herakles gegründet. Die Einwohner werden als Sevillanos bezeichnet.
Die Stadt ist ein wichtiger Industrie- und Handelsplatz und Touristenzentrum. Sevilla liegt zu beiden Seiten des bis hierhin auch für Seeschiffe befahrbaren Guadalquivir, in einer weiten und fruchtbaren Ebene. Mit ihren zahlreichen Türmen bietet Sevilla von allen Seiten einen imposanten Anblick. Die eigentliche Stadt nimmt das östliche Ufer des Guadalquivir ein und ist von den Vorstädten Los Humeros, Cesteria, Baratillo, Carreteria, Resolana mit dem großen Hospital La Caridad, San Bernardo, San Roque y la Calzada und Macarena mit dem Hospital de la Sangre umgeben. Von der alten, mit 66 Türmen versehenen Ringmauer, welche die innere Stadt umgab, sind nur noch Reste vorhanden. Am rechten Ufer des Flusses breitet sich die große Vorstadt Triana aus.

Seville was founded as the Roman city of Hispalis, and was known as Ishbiliya after the Muslim conquest in 712. During the Muslim rule in Spain, Seville came under the jurisdiction of the Caliphate of Córdoba before becoming the independent Taifa of Seville; later it was ruled by the Muslim Almoravids and the Almohads until finally being incorporated into the Christian Kingdom of Castile under Ferdinand III in 1248.
After the discovery of the Americas, Seville became one of the economic centres of the Spanish Empire as its port monopolised the trans-oceanic trade and the Casa de Contratación (House of Trade) wielded its power, opening a Golden Age of arts and literature. In 1519, Ferdinand Magellan departed from Seville for the first circumnavigation of the Earth. Coinciding with the Baroque period of European history, the 17th century in Seville represented the most brilliant flowering of the city's culture; then began a gradual economic and demographic decline as silting in the Guadalquivir forced the trade monopoly to relocate to the nearby port of Cádiz.

During the Muslim rule in Spain, Seville came under the jurisdiction of the Caliphate of Córdoba before becoming the independent Taifa of Seville; later it was ruled by the Muslim Almoravids and the Almohads until finally being incorporated into the Christian Kingdom of Castile under Ferdinand III in 1248. After the discovery of the Americas, Seville became one of the economic centres of the Spanish Empire as its port monopolised the trans-oceanic trade and the Casa de Contratación (House of Trade) wielded its power, opening a Golden Age of arts and literature. In 1519, Ferdinand Magellan departed from Seville for the first circumnavigation of the Earth. Coinciding with the Baroque period of European history, the 17th century in Seville represented the most brilliant flowering of the city's culture; then began a gradual economic and demographic decline as silting in the Guadalquivir forced the trade monopoly to relocate to the nearby port of Cádiz. -

Meanwhile in Washington D.C., it is Inauguration Day where the outgoing President Noah Daniels is handing over the presidency to the first female president Allison Taylor (Cherry Jones). Hearing about the coup, Daniels wants to evacuate the country before it falls to the rogue general, while Taylor thinks otherwise. Elsewhere, Taylor's son Roger and his fiancée Samantha get wind of information from a friend about suspicious money transactions where he works at a local brokerage firm. But neither he or Roger are aware that a corrupt corporate mogul, Jonas Hodges, is plotting with General Juma to overthrow the government for monetary purposes and will do anything to keep his nefarious plans under wraps.

Mit ihren zahlreichen Türmen bietet Sevilla von allen Seiten einen imposanten Anblick. Seville was founded as the Roman city of Hispalis, and was known as Ishbiliya after the Muslim conquest in 712. During the Muslim rule in Spain, Seville came under the jurisdiction of the Caliphate of Córdoba before becoming the independent Taifa of Seville; later it was ruled by the Muslim Almoravids and the Almohads until finally being incorporated into the Christian Kingdom of Castile under Ferdinand III in 1248.
After the discovery of the Americas, Seville became one of the economic centres of the Spanish Empire as its port monopolised the trans-oceanic trade and the Casa de Contratación (House of Trade) wielded its power, opening a Golden Age of arts and literature. In 1519, Ferdinand Magellan departed from Seville for the first circumnavigation of the Earth. Coinciding with the Baroque period of European history, the 17th century in Seville represented the most brilliant flowering of the city's culture; then began a gradual economic and demographic decline as silting in the Guadalquivir forced the trade monopoly to relocate to the nearby port of Cádiz.

Its unique mixture of numerous cultures and époques augments the atmosphere of exquisite luxury. With its labyrinth of white alleys, Santa Cruz is the city’s old Jewish district and is located close to both the Real Alcazar and the Catedral. Grated windows, flowerpots on the walls and old wooden gates are typical of this area of the city that exemplifies the traditional Andalusian way of life. The Plaza De Toros and the seasonal hustle and bustle of its bullfights, dominates the El Arenal, the city’s former harbor district. Designed in the 18th century by Vicente San Martin, the bullfight arena was fully restored in the middle of the 19th century. La Giralda and the Patio de los Naranjos are the only remains of Sevilla´s Almohad Mosque. The rest of the temple was destroyed by the Christians. Construction began in 1401 and it became the largest Gothic cathedral in the world. After the Petersdom in Rome and St.Paul’s in London, it is the third largest Christian building in the world. With its rich cultural inheritance bequeathed by both the Moors and the Christians, Seville is a truly incredible city with a flamboyant way of life and fiery Latin temperament!
