DIRE STRAITS - st LP 78 w Communique LP 79 w Making Movies LP 80 w Love Over Gold LP 82 w Brothers In Arms LP 85

Their debut st LP is considered one of the best in rock 'n' roll as they really were in 'dire straits' and had leveraged their credit to the max.  I post this now and sell this stuff off as it is outside the scope of the blog because I remember 'Skateaway' was the AOR radio hit song going when I completely switched off all mass produced rock 'n' roll and found Stiff Little Fingers! (see above) ha ha

Ha ha, I first found her album with the 'Daisy Hat in Daisy Field shot of her on a bike' I had got for a quarter, then found the CD's, lost the album somewhere and found a later one.

ROCK FOLLIES - st LP 76 Thames TV

I think the opening song is a parody of Neil Young's Sugar Mountain but maybe not.  Interesting!

TRAFFIC - John Barleycorn Must Die LP 70 w Welcome To The Canteen LP 71 w When The Eagle Flies LP 74

I got this one not labeled as Traffic but by its members for a dollar, then I had the tape of the two albums from my buddy in high school who had tones of sixties records with his older brother who played in the Gooney Birds from a couple weeks ago.  He got me into Traffic, Prof. Longhair, James Brown, National Lampoon, Car Wash, Kentucky Fried Movie and other comedies.  I always knew from that small offering of his that Traffic was in another higher regard like Donovan.

HAPPY MONDAYS - Peel Session EP 89 w Bummed LP 89 w Hallelujah LP 89 w Pills 'N Thrills and Bellyaches LP 90 w LIVE LP 91 w Yes, Please! LP 92

REPOST Request:  I first heard of these ravers from the Beastie Boy King Ad Rock's movie, "Lost Angels" as they were the house band playing in the movie.  Then my buddy got the Hallelujah tape and we were blown away as this was an all new kind of music to my virgin ears and so I bought the greatest hits CD.  Then had to see them whenever they toured through town at First Avenue club.  They are still grooving and even posted on their facebook a kid in a wheelchair with cancer (chemo radiation treatments had put him there) who used CBD oil (which is only from fresh squeezed cannabis) to cure his cancer 100% and is walking again...so yes, they are still community champions out there in England.  3 Cheers!

Peter Hammill - Nadir's Big Chance LP 75 w Over LP 77 w The Future Now LP 78 w pH7 LP 79 w Sitting Targets LP 81

Singer and principal songwriter for Van der Graaf Generator and as I mentioned last week the producer of the Random Hold new wave band posted.  In a 1977 Capital Radio broadcast, John Lydon of the Sex Pistols played two tracks from the Nadir album, "The Institute Of Mental Health, Burning" and "Nobody's Business", and expressed his admiration for Hammill.  I was most curious in the period of his long career around the VDG double live album 'Vital' after the long hiatus and viola these records had the highest rating on Wiki also.  Now a just a few more VDGG to get!
