A music director may be the director of an orchestra or concert band, the director of music for a film, the director of music at a radio station, the head of the music department in a school, the coordinator of the musical ensembles in a university, college, or institution (but not usually the head of the academic music department), the head bandmaster of a military band, the head organist and choirmaster of a church, or an Organist and Master of the Choristers (a title given to a Director of Music at a cathedral, particularly in England).
The title of "music director" or "musical director" is used by many symphony orchestras to designate the primary conductor and artistic leader of the orchestra. The term "music director" is most common for orchestras in the United States. With European orchestras, the titles of "principal conductor" or "chief conductor" are more common, which designate the conductor who directs the majority of a given orchestra's concerts in a season. In musical theatre and opera, the music director is in charge of the overall musical performance, including ensuring that the cast knows the music thoroughly, supervising the musical interpretation of the performers and pit orchestra, and conducting the orchestra.

This clip has been taken from the 'Shabdanchya Palikadle' which was a wonderful program on DD. The song is 'Ti Geli Tevha Rimjhim' written by well known poet 'Grace'. Its about the situation when a mother dies. Beautifully composed and sung by my favourite music director Hridaynath Mangeshkar. You can identify the pain when you listen to the song. One of my all time favourites. Here are the lyrics of the song.

Pt Hridaynath Mangeshkar sings 'uSh:kAl hotA hotA' at 'ElgAr', a tribute to Suresh Bhat
Written by my most favourite poet Kavi Grace and Sung by Living Legend - Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar I don't think this song needs any video .. just close the eyes and listen .. that will be enough !!
Ye Duniya Kaisi Hai Bhagawaan,Jahaan Mar Mar Jiye Insaan
Kahene Do Tum Aaj Mujhe, Afsaana Ek Dukhiyaari Ka
Jis Ke Bhole Mann Men, Ek Din Lagaa Teer Shikaari Ka
Pyaar Huaa Donon Men Phir Bhi, Nikale Nahin Aramaan
Ye Duniyaa Kaisi.............
Deep Khushi Ke Bujh Gaye Jal Ke, Lag Gaee Aag Jawaani Men
Jag Waale Ne Zaher Milaaya, Pyaar Ke Mithe Paani Men
(Bichhad Gaya) 2 Naiyya Se Khiwaiya, Aaya Woh Toofaan
Ye Duniyaa Kaisi.............
Padi Hai Us Bekas Ki Naiyya, Ab Tak Gham Ke Dhaare Pe
Chhod Jise Bedard Khiwaaiya, Pahuncha Aap Kinaare Pe
Chaar Dinon Men Pyaar Ki Qasmen, Bhool Gayaa Naadaan
Ye Duniyaa Kaisi.............
Roti Hai Din Raat Wo Birahan, Yaad Men Pyaare Saajan Ki
O.. Maalik Insaaf To Kar, Kya Reet Yehi Hai Jeevan Ki
Loot Ke Ek Nirdhan Ki Duniyaa, Mouj Kare Dhanwaan
Ye Duniyaa Kaisi.............
