Fairfax Media's Mark Fogarty wins top Supercars media award
Fairfax Media motor sport writer Mark Fogarty has won the top honour in the 2016 Supercars Media Awards.
Fogarty was named as Best News Reporter for breaking some of the biggest Supercars stories of the past year.
It is the third time he has received the major prize in the five-year history of the Supercars Media Awards, which this year were decided by independent judging panels rather than by votes of the members of the Supercars Media Association.
'Foges' was also a finalist for the Best Feature Writer and Best Breaking News Report awards.
The Supercars Media Awards ceremony was held at the Sydney Olympic Park street circuit, where the last Sydney 500 finishes on Sunday, hosted by the Supercars Media Association in conjunction with Supercars, Castrol and Hino.
One of the stories that helped Fogarty win the Best News Reporter award was his exclusive Fairfax Media report following last year's Sydney 500 that Supercars was planning to move its season-ending event away from Sydney Olympic Park.
He also broke the story earlier this year that it would be replaced by a new street race event in Newcastle from 2017.
