Hi, I'm Jason. Today we're going to talk about how big an acre is. You may think you know, but today, I'm going to show you.
A square acre is approximately 208 feet by 208 feet. For reference, you're approximately 208 feet away from me right now. As you can see, an acre is pretty big. A home site in a suburban community is about a quarter acre. You could fit four of those into a football field, which is also about an acre. Your average city block is two and a half acres, and Central Park is over 840 acres.
On an acre, you'd have room for a beautiful house and to stretch your legs a little bit, but you still may be able to see your neighbor. On five acres, you'd have room to add a barn and a nice garden. On ten acres, you may add a pond and a beautiful dock. On twenty acres, you'd have room for cows or horses, or even to manage your timber.

O cabo Alexandro Aparecido dos Santos, de 36 anos, da Polícia Militar (PM) foi morto com um tiro no pescoço durante uma abordagem a três pessoas no bairro Novo Horizonte, em Rio Branco. Segundo o capitão Felipe Russo, um dos homens reagiu à fiscalização, iniciou uma luta com o cabo e acabou conseguindo pegar uma das armas do militar.
Russo acrescentou que dois dos envolvidos foram presos no momento da ocorrência, incluindo o que efetuou o disparo. O terceiro suspeito conseguiu fugir do local, conforme informações da polícia. O cabo chegou a ser socorrido pelo Serviço de Atendimento Móvel de Urgência (Samu), mas morreu a caminho do hospital.
A defesa de Kennedy Silva Magalhães, apontado como autor do disparo que matou o PM, disse, já nesta terça-feira (16), que não é possível afirmar que o tiro partiu de Magalhães, diz ainda que deve pedir perícia.
"Vamos requerer a perícia e vamos ver se há resquício de pólvora na mão do Kennedy. Porque o que fica claro é que houve um tumulto. Totalmente diferente da primeira acepção da polícia, que alega que ele roubou e atirou contra o PM", diz.
"A guarnição foi fazer uma abordagem de rotina e foram abordar três indivíduos a pé. Um deles reagiu, travou uma luta com o PM, conseguiu tomar uma das armas que ele portava e atirou. Ele [policial] faleceu na viatura do Samu", explicou o capitão.
Os dois homens presos durante a ocorrência, de acordo com Russo, foram encaminhados à Delegacia de Flagrantes (Defla) também na capital acreana.
O Comanda da Polícia Militar manifestou, em nota, pesar pelo falecimento do cabo. Destacou ainda que o superior do dia e o comandante-geral da PM-AC estiveram no hospital acompanhando o caso pessoalmente.
"Nós, militares, mesmo tendo feito o juramento de proteger a sociedade, inclusive com risco de nossa própria vida, sendo ainda sabedores de todos os perigos inerentes à profissão em si, sempre vislumbramos cumprir nossas missões e retornar com saúde para o seio de nossa família. Mas, infelizmente, hoje, perdemos um excelente policial militar", lamenta o comando.
Acusado teria oficializado denúncia contra PMs
O advogado Gouveia, que defende Magalhães, diz ainda que a família alega que o acusado sofria perseguição e agressão por parte de alguns policiais militares. A defesa diz ainda que os policiais foram até casa de Magalhães porque seu pai iria para um audiência na corregedoria.
"Ele [acusado) trabalha, tem carteira assinada, mas é dependente químico. A família alega que outros PMs agrediram ele e o perseguiam. Tanto que um senhor que trabalha na corregedoria aparece no vídeo porque foi intimiar o pai do Kennedy a comparecer na audiência", diz.
A defesa diz ainda que o acusado, apesar de ter problemas com droga, não trafica entorpecentes. "Mas, lembramos que a lei difere o usuário do traficante. Os usuários são escravos do vício e a sociedade deve combater os tubarões do tráfico", destaca.
O capitão Felipe Russo, da PM, confirmou a denúncia na corregedoria, mas fez questão de ressaltar que o cabo morto não estava envolvido neste episódio. "Outra guarnição foi alvo de denúncias, mas são fatos que policias que trabalham certo estão suscetíveis", explica.
Cortejo
Ainda abalados com a morte do cabo da Polícia Militar Alexandro Aparecido dos Santos, de 36 anos, morto durante uma abordagem policial, mais de 200 PMs acompanharam o cortejo do colega, nesta terça-feira (15) em Rio Branco. O corpo estava sendo velado na Capela São João Batista e foi acompanhado com honras militares até o Aeroporto Plácido de Castro.

PM é morto durante abordagem no estado do Acre (Vídeo Completo)
O cabo Alexandro Aparecido dos Santos, de 36 anos, da Polícia Militar (PM) foi morto com um tiro no pescoço durante uma abordagem a três pessoas no bairro Novo Horizonte, em Rio Branco. Segundo o capitão Felipe Russo, um dos homens reagiu à fiscalização, iniciou uma luta com o cabo e acabou conseguindo pegar uma das armas do militar. Russo acrescentou que dois dos envolvidos foram presos no momento da ocorrência, incluindo o que efetuou o disparo. O terceiro suspeito conseguiu fugir do local, conforme informações da polícia. O cabo chegou a ser socorrido pelo Serviço de Atendimento Móvel de Urgência (Samu), mas morreu a caminho do hospital. Hi, I'm Jason. Today we're going to talk about how big an acre is. You may think you know, but today, I'm going to show you.
A square acre is approximately 208 feet by 208 feet. For reference, you're approximately 208 feet away from me right now. As you can see, an acre is pretty big. A home site in a suburban community is about a quarter acre. You could fit four of those into a football field, which is also about an acre. Your average city block is two and a half acres, and Central Park is over 840 acres.
On an acre, you'd have room for a beautiful house and to stretch your legs a little bit, but you still may be able to see your neighbor. On five acres, you'd have room to add a barn and a nice garden. On ten acres, you may add a pond and a beautiful dock. On twenty acres, you'd have room for cows or horses, or even to manage your timber.

O cabo Alexandro Aparecido dos Santos, de 36 anos, da Polícia Militar (PM) foi morto com um tiro no pescoço durante uma abordagem a três pessoas no bairro Novo Horizonte, em Rio Branco. Segundo o capitão Felipe Russo, um dos homens reagiu à fiscalização, iniciou uma luta com o cabo e acabou conseguindo pegar uma das armas do militar.
Russo acrescentou que dois dos envolvidos foram presos no momento da ocorrência, incluindo o que efetuou o disparo. O terceiro suspeito conseguiu fugir do local, conforme informações da polícia. O cabo chegou a ser socorrido pelo Serviço de Atendimento Móvel de Urgência (Samu), mas morreu a caminho do hospital.
A defesa de Kennedy Silva Magalhães, apontado como autor do disparo que matou o PM, disse, já nesta terça-feira (16), que não é possível afirmar que o tiro partiu de Magalhães, diz ainda que deve pedir perícia.
"Vamos requerer a perícia e vamos ver se há resquício de pólvora na mão do Kennedy. Porque o que fica claro é que houve um tumulto. Totalmente diferente da primeira acepção da polícia, que alega que ele roubou e atirou contra o PM", diz.

Os dois homens presos durante a ocorrência, de acordo com Russo, foram encaminhados à Delegacia de Flagrantes (Defla) também na capital acreana.
O Comanda da Polícia Militar manifestou, em nota, pesar pelo falecimento do cabo. Destacou ainda que o superior do dia e o comandante-geral da PM-AC estiveram no hospital acompanhando o caso pessoalmente.
"Nós, militares, mesmo tendo feito o juramento de proteger a sociedade, inclusive com risco de nossa própria vida, sendo ainda sabedores de todos os perigos inerentes à profissão em si, sempre vislumbramos cumprir nossas missões e retornar com saúde para o seio de nossa família. Mas, infelizmente, hoje, perdemos um excelente policial militar", lamenta o comando.
Acusado teria oficializado denúncia contra PMs
O advogado Gouveia, que defende Magalhães, diz ainda que a família alega que o acusado sofria perseguição e agressão por parte de alguns policiais militares. A defesa diz ainda que os policiais foram até casa de Magalhães porque seu pai iria para um audiência na corregedoria.
"Ele [acusado) trabalha, tem carteira assinada, mas é dependente químico. A família alega que outros PMs agrediram ele e o perseguiam. Tanto que um senhor que trabalha na corregedoria aparece no vídeo porque foi intimiar o pai do Kennedy a comparecer na audiência", diz.
A defesa diz ainda que o acusado, apesar de ter problemas com droga, não trafica entorpecentes. "Mas, lembramos que a lei difere o usuário do traficante. Os usuários são escravos do vício e a sociedade deve combater os tubarões do tráfico", destaca.
O capitão Felipe Russo, da PM, confirmou a denúncia na corregedoria, mas fez questão de ressaltar que o cabo morto não estava envolvido neste episódio. "Outra guarnição foi alvo de denúncias, mas são fatos que policias que trabalham certo estão suscetíveis", explica.
Cortejo
Ainda abalados com a morte do cabo da Polícia Militar Alexandro Aparecido dos Santos, de 36 anos, morto durante uma abordagem policial, mais de 200 PMs acompanharam o cortejo do colega, nesta terça-feira (15) em Rio Branco. O corpo estava sendo velado na Capela São João Batista e foi acompanhado com honras militares até o Aeroporto Plácido de Castro.

O cabo Alexandro Aparecido dos Santos, de 36 anos, da Polícia Militar (PM) foi morto com um tiro no pescoço durante uma abordagem a três pessoas no bairro Novo Horizonte, em Rio Branco. Segundo o capitão Felipe Russo, um dos homens reagiu à fiscalização, iniciou uma luta com o cabo e acabou conseguindo pegar uma das armas do militar.
Russo acrescentou que dois dos envolvidos foram presos no momento da ocorrência, incluindo o que efetuou o disparo. O terceiro suspeito conseguiu fugir do local, conforme informações da polícia. O cabo chegou a ser socorrido pelo Serviço de Atendimento Móvel de Urgência (Samu), mas morreu a caminho do hospital.
A defesa de Kennedy Silva Magalhães, apontado como autor do disparo que matou o PM, disse, já nesta terça-feira (16), que não é possível afirmar que o tiro partiu de Magalhães, diz ainda que deve pedir perícia.
"Vamos requerer a perícia e vamos ver se há resquício de pólvora na mão do Kennedy. Porque o que fica claro é que houve um tumulto. Totalmente diferente da primeira acepção da polícia, que alega que ele roubou e atirou contra o PM", diz.
