Almaty /ˈælməti/ (Kazakh: Алматы/Almatı [ɑlmɑˈtə]; Russian: Алматы), formerly known as Alma-Ata /ˌælmə.əˈtɑː/ (Russian: Алма-Ата) and Verny (Russian: Верный), is the largest city in Kazakhstan, with a population of 1,703,481 people, consisting the 9% of the country's total population. Almaty is considered a World City with a Beta classification according to GaWC. It served as capital of the Kazakh state in its various forms from 1929 to 1997, under influence of the former Soviet Union and its appointees. Alma-Ata was the host city for a 1978 international conference on Primary Health Care where the Alma Ata Declaration was adopted, marking a paradigm shift in global public health. In 1997 the government relocated the capital to Astana in the north of the nation.
Almaty continues as the major commercial and cultural centre of Kazakhstan, as well as its biggest population center. The city is located in the mountainous area of southern Kazakhstan in the foothills of the Trans-Ili Alatau at an elevation of 2,300–3,000 feet (700–900 m), where the Bolshaya and Malaya Almaatinka rivers run into the plain.
Kazakhstan (i/ˌkæzækˈstɑːn, ˌkɑː-, -zɑːk-, -ˈstæn/;Kazakh: Қазақстан, Qazaqstan), officially the Republic of Kazakhstan, is a country in Central Asia, with a minor part west of the Ural River and thus in Europe. Kazakhstan is the world's largest landlocked country by land area and the ninth largest country in the world. Its territory of 2,724,900 square kilometres (1,052,100 sq mi) is larger than all of Western Europe. By 2006, Kazakhstan had become the dominant nation of Central Asia economically, generating 60% of the region's GDP, primarily through its oil/gas industry. The country has vast mineral resources.
It has borders with (clockwise from the north) Russia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan, and also adjoins a large part of the Caspian Sea. The terrain of Kazakhstan includes flatlands, steppe, taiga, rock canyons, hills, deltas, snow-capped mountains, and deserts. With an estimated 18 million people as of 2014, Kazakhstan is the 61st most populous country in the world. Given its large land area, its population density is among the lowest, at less than 6 people per square kilometre (15 people per sq. mi.). The capital is Astana, where it was moved in 1997 from Almaty.

Renting a room or apartment in Almaty can be surprisingly expensive. On the upside, there is rarely a deposit to be paid and you can call one day and move in the next. Krisha.kz has the biggest number of listings. You can select by region of Almaty Agencies usually take 10% of the monthly rent. Smaller realtors take a fixed fee, perhaps 15 000 tenge for a signed contract. Just showing apartments costs money too, perhaps 500 - 1000 Tenge per apartment For short term rent AirBnB Booking.com Krisha.kz also has short term rentals. On the site, select Я ищу ” посуточно”, that would be payment per day. Athome.kz, AlaHome and Apartamenty.kz are 3 other sites to check for short term rental. A trip through three 'Stans Part 1: Almaty I see as much as I can of the city, completely dispelling Borat's version of Kazakhstan.
Kazakhstan Travel Video Guide: The world's ninth biggest country is one of its last great travel unknowns. Though the outside world is gradually becoming aware of Kazakhstan, largely thanks to its oil and the antics of that pseudo-Kazakh Borat Sagdiyev, few have really explored this country of vastly varied attractions. Easily the most economically advanced of the 'stans', post-Soviet Kazakhstan is reinventing itself as a uniquely prosperous and modern Eurasian nation. The leafy commercial and social hub, Almaty, has an almost European feel with its quality hotels, slick boutiques, chic cafés and streets thick with BMWs and Mercedes. Astana, in the north, is being transformed at quickfire speed into a 21st-century capital with a unique mix of Islamic, Western, Soviet and wacky futuristic ...

https://www.facebook.com/learnwithsyed Astana (Астана) is the capital of Kazakhstan (Қазақстан). It is located on the Ishim River in the north portion of Kazakhstan, within Akmola Region, though administrated separately from the region as the city with special status. The 2014 census reported a population of 835,153 within the city, making it the second-largest city in Kazakhstan. Founded in 1830 as the settlement of Akmoly (Kazakh: Ақмолы) or Akmolinsky prikaz (Russian: Акмолинский приказ), it served as fortification of the Siberian Cossacks. In 1832, the settlement was granted a town status and renamed Akmolinsk (Russian: Акмолинск). On 20 March 1961, the city was renamed to Tselinograd (Russian: Целиноград) to mark the city's evolution as a cultural and administrative center of the Virg...
Experience of travelling by train from Almaty, Kazakhstan, to Tashkent, Uzbekistan (via Shymkent); on the National Railway Company of Kazakhstan (Қазақстан Темiр Жолы / ҚТЖ). On board the Soviet-style train, it was a close to 13 hour ride from Almaty to Shymkent. On the sleeper cabin (shared by four people), a mattress and pillow (with fresh sheets) were provided. It is advisable to bring adequate food and water on the journey. This is a cost-effective albeit less comfortable way of getting to Tashkent from Almaty: by taking a domestic train service to Shymkent, then taking taxi to the Kazakh-Uzbek border, crossing the border into Uzbekistan before taking another taxi to the capital, Tashkent. Note: private vehicles can double as a taxi, negotiate first with the driver on the price. A li...
[Chorus]
I came to you my china eyes
You look at me
I knew that the days are long and cold
Without you by my side
I see your face I melt inside
The thoughts of you
I know that I can't no longer hide
My love for china eyes
Please come with me my china eyes
Let's share our joys in paradise
You're the one that I will love
Till the end of my life
I came to you my china eyes
[Repeat Chorus]
Please love now my china eyes
Just one kiss and I could die
You're the one my heart desires
I love you china eyes
