At 36 weeks pregnant most women are putting their feet up and getting some much needed rest, but not Chontel Duncan.

The fitness model from Queensland's Gold Coast is working out everyday and staying in shape as she counts down the weeks until she gives birth to her first child.

The superfit mum-to-be, who represented Queensland in Miss Universe Australia in 2009, is sharing pictures of her pregnancy journey with more than 200,000 followers in Instagram.

"Boy do I feel pregnant, this tummy is massive, heavy, makes sitting up so difficult, rolling over in bed a funny task, trying my sneakers hard work & my back has its moments where it throbs," she wrote alongside a picture of herself at 36 weeks pregnant this week.

"It's exciting because these are all NEW signs & signs that mean Little D is almost here."

The majority of Chontel's followers are inspired by her trim pregnancy body, however a few have suggested she cutback on the workouts while expecting.

But Chontel says she does not believe in any of the theories surrounding pregnancy and what is 'right' or 'wrong'.

"I honestly don't believe in the whole you'll carry 'this way' & you aren't 'sick' because you're having a boy, or you 'will breeze through labour' because you are athletic, or 'your baby will be small' because you aren't showing much, or if you drink this special tea or eat this particular fruit you'll deliver on time blah blah blah," she wrote.

"There is no consistency with any of it & I've seen the fittest women have to go for a C-Section, I've had friends be more sick carrying their boys then they ever were carrying their girl, I've had lean bodybuilding friends be told their baby is small but come out 10 pounds."

In November Chontel posted a photograph of herself comparing baby bellies with her friend Nat who was just four weeks ahead in her pregnancy. This is Nat's third child.

The difference in the size of the expectant mums' bumps could not have been more stark.

"Each women carries different and this most certainly doesn't mean one is doing something wrong or not healthy etc.

"We both have healthy growing babies & we both have had incredible pregnancies so far, feeling amazing & full of energy," Chontel wrote alongside the image.

Chantal's baby, a boy, is due at the end of this month.
