So, if you're looking for the ultimate Christmas present then we've assembled a catalogue of the latest end-of-year deals across all the major car brands.
Alfa Romeo
Alfa Romeo has discounted the just-superseded Giulietta Series 1 hatch. The entry-level Giulietta progression is now available from $25,000 drive-away (down from $29,000 plus on-road costs), while the better-equipped Giulietta Sprint costs $27,000 drive-away (it was $31,000 plus on-road costs) until December 31.
The brand is also offering a $1500 factory bonus on Giulietta Series 1 QV models, and $2500 for the Series 1 Distinctive.
Audi
Audi is staging an 'Open Haus' this December and January that gives buyers complimentary registration, stamp duty and CTP across a wide range of new and demonstrator models.
BMW
BMW is offering special deals on demonstrators as part of the BMW Summer Sales Festival, clearing out existing stock until December 31.
Citroen
Citroen is doing deals on the Grand C4 Picasso people mover, which is now available from $48,990 drive-away with a $5000 Lounge Pack included as standard - the highly regarded people-mover normally costs $47,490 plus on-road costs, representing thousands in savings.
Citroen's C4 Cactus is available in manual petrol form for $26,990 drive-away or as an automatic diesel for $29,990 drive-away, with Citroen footing the bill for on-road costs until the end of the year.
Dodge
Dodge is paying a $2000 factory bonus on new Journey people movers delivered before December 31.
Fiat
Fiat's 500X hatchback is on sale from $26,000 drive-away until December 31 with interest-free finance and three years of free servicing, a sharp discount from its regular price of $28,000 plus on-road costs.
The compact 500 Pop hatchback features less-competitive 4.99 per cent finance that equates to $6 per week, while the run-out Fiat 500 Sport costs $18,000 drive-away (down from $21,500 plus on-road costs). Buyers looking for more performance can choose from a range of turbocharged Abarth models with interest-free finance that requires a 10 per cent deposit.
Ford
Ford is offering "Five Years of Savings" on selected vehicles, which includes a five-year, 100,000 kilometre extended warranty, five $100 servicing discounts and finance that excludes the brand's usual $395 establishment fee.
The deal coincides with drive-away deals on many models including the Fiesta Ambiente, which is priced from $15,990 drive-away (normally $17,825 plus on-road costs)
Foton
Foton is offering customers "Tuns of time" to pay for a new Tunland ute as part of a no-deposit finance deal that includes no repayments for three months and a 3.99 per cent interest rate.
Great Wall
Great Wall has a sales promotion for its new Steed ute. Available from $24,990 drive-away, the 100kW pick-up is currently available for significantly less than its recommended retail price of $25,990 plus on-road costs.
Haval
Haval has reduced the price of its entry-level H2 SUV. Normally priced from $24,490 plus on-road costs, the Chinese crossover is now on sale for $23,990 drive-away. Similarly, the Haval H6 Premium is available for $29,990 drive-away, down from a regular price of $34,990 plus on-road costs.
Holden
Holden is offering end-of-year deals on a range of key models including the new Spark, which costs $7 per day with 3.9 per cent finance, or $14,990 drive-away with 12 months of comprehensive insurance and a five-year warranty that builds on the brand's standard three-year guarantee.
Soon-to-be-replaced models such as the three-door Astra and locally-built Cruze small cars are also going cheap, with the discontinued Holden Cruze Equipe dropping from $22,090 plus on-road costs to $18,990 drive-away.
Honda
Honda is offering an extended five-year, 140,000-kilometre warranty on several models as part of its annual clearance. The popular CR-V also benefits from free registration, CTP insurance and roadside assistance to help encourage customers to buy a new car.
Honda's latest Civic sedan is also available from $24,990 drive-away with the same extras along with $500 in accessories that represents a better deal than its regular price of $22,390 plus on-road costs.
Hyundai
Hyundai's popular i30 hatch is in run-out. Save thousands with the i30 Active, available from $19,990 drive-away, or the better-equipped i30 Active X for $21,990 drive-away. Other offers include the new Hyundai Elantra, which has five years of free servicing, a deal that also applies to some models in the Santa Fe range.
Infiniti
Infiniti is offering 1.9 per cent finance on its range of SUVs including the compact QX30, full-sized QX70 and Nissan Patrol-based QX80 models, offering discount loans through Nissan's finance arm.
Isuzu Ute
Isuzu's Real Deal sale features drive-away pricing on many models, including the D-Max LSU 4X4 Crew Cab for $43,990 drive-away. Four-wheel-drive models also feature three years of free servicing until December 31.
Jaguar
Jaguar is tempting buyers by offering complimentary registration, CTP, stamp duty and five years free scheduled servicing, warranty and roadside assistance on 2016-plated XE, XF and XJ sedans and well as the F-Pace 20d SUV and F-Type sports cars this December.
Jeep
Jeep's "Seize the Day" sale offers special deals on a range of models including the Grand Cherokee Laredo 4X4, which is on sale from $50,000 drive-away with three years of free servicing and interest-free finance, representing savings of at least $10,000. The brand has a similar deal in place with low repayments and free maintenance on the Cherokee Sport, which is on sale from $33,000 drive-away.
Kia
Kia is giving buyers gift cards valued at $1000 to use against the end value of the new Sportage compact SUVs, a $2000 gift card for its 2016 Optima mid-size sedan and a $500 gift card against its already cut-price 2017 Picanto light car. The offer lasts until December 24.
The South Korean brand is also offering drive-away pricing and free auto upgrades on some of its Rio and Cerato models until December 24.
Land Rover
Land Rover is covering the cost of registration, CTP and stamp duty this December for all Discovery Sport, Range Rover Sport and Range Rover Evoque models.
LDV
LDV continues to offer sharp drive-away pricing on its range of commercial vans. The brand's G10 Van is available from $25,990 drive-away in petrol form or $28,990 with diesel power for Australian ABN holders.
Lexus
Lexus is doing deals on 2016-plated vehicles. While it has not advertised specific prices, the brand is encouraging customers interested in CT, ES, GS, LS and RC model lines to visit their local dealer before December 31.
Mazda
Mazda is offering extras to customers as part of its "Plate Escape" sale. Save with free on-road costs, including registration, stamp duty and CTP costs on the Mazda3 and CX-5 range, or by choosing a Mazda2 Neo for $16,990 drive-away.
Mercedes-Benz
Mercedes-Benz is offering a sale on a wide range of demonstrator models throughout the month of December.
Mini
British small car brand Mini is giving its five-door Cooper hatch a price cut until December 31. The five-door Mini will now be available for the drive-away price of the Mini three-door hatch, which represents a saving of over $1000 across the range.
Mitsubishi
Mitsubishi is offering drive-away pricing for several models including its Triton workhorse ute range. Its 2016 GLX, GLX+, GLS and Exceed Double Cab models also come with a $2000 factory bonus until December 31. While several single cab models come fitted with a genuine Mitsubishi alloy tray as standard.
Mitsubishi is also offering a free auto upgrade on MY2016 Lancers and some MY2015.5 ASX models.
Nissan
Nissan is doing away with on-road costs for some of its most popular 2016 models including the Qashqai small SUV which is now priced from $25,990 drive-away. The fast selling Nissan X-Trail range now starts from $27,990 drive-away while the Pathfinder range kicks off at $39,990 drive-away down from the previous entry-point of $41,490 plus on road costs.
ABN holders can grab a frisky drive-away deal on the updated Series 2 Navara SL and ST for $37,990 and $42,990 drive-away respectively, both represent a several thousand dollar discount.
Peugeot
Peugeot is offering an eight year/unlimited kilometre warranty, plus eight years of roadside assistance for all 2015 models up from the previous three year/100,000km warranty. The offer is available until December 31.
RAM
American big truck maker RAM is covering all on-road costs on both its 2500 at $139,500 drive-away, and 3500 at $146,500 drive-away.
Renault
Renault is offering reduced drive-away prices across several models in its range, but the Renault Clio Expression auto represents some of the best savings at $19,990 drive-away a saving of $1150. The offer also includes complimentary metallic paint and the Electric pack which includes auto headlights, electric front and rear windows, electric folding door mirrors and push button start. Offer lasts until January 3, 2017.
Skoda
Skoda is offering a 1.8 per cent interest rate on all 2016 models across its range bought before December 31. The Czech car maker is also upping its factory warranty to five years over the regular three years on all 2016 vehicles sold by the 31th of December.
Subaru
Subaru is offering a five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty on it new 2017 Subaru Impreza bought and delivered before December 31 up from the usual three year/unlimited km warranty.
Suzuki
Suzuki is offering deals on 2016 plated models in December including the Swift GL and Baleno GL manual small cars priced at $14,990 and $16,990 drive-away, which represent savings of about $1000.
The Suzuki Vitara RT-S manual small SUV is also been offered with a special drive-away price of $22,990.
Toyota
Toyota is offering special drive-away prices for several of its popular HiLux models, including it SR 4x4 Double Cab Turbo Diesel manual for $46,990 with a free tow bar and the floor mats pack, valued at over $1000. The Japanese brand's range topping SR5 also gets the drive-away treatment for both its manual and auto versions priced at $52,990 and $54,990 respectively.
Toyota is also offering 0 per cent financing across its Camry and Aurion range - excluding hybrid models - along with a $1000 Caltex fuel card.
Toyota is also offering four years roadside assistance on several models.
All offers last until December 31.
Volkswagen
Buyers have up to December 31 to take up Volkswagen's special offer on its 2017 Golf 92TSI DSG for $25,490 drive-away instead of $24,340 before on-road costs. Additionally the Golf 92TSI - as well as other selected Golf and Polo models - get the benefit of Volkswagen's 1 per cent interest rate and guaranteed future value promotion.
Volkswagen is also offering drive-away pricing on selected models up to December 31.
Volvo
The Swedish car maker is offering some solid drive-away deals on 2017 models including the V40 hatch, XC60 mid-size SUV, XC90 large seven-seat SUV and S60 sedan until December 23.
However, the Volvo XC90 D5 Inscription for $90,888 drive-away represents the best value with more than $6000 knocked off the before on-road costs price. The limited offer also includes the brand's technology pack valued at $3000 which includes a head-up display, Apple CarPlay, surround view camera and digital radio.

I purchased a Subaru Forester 2.5 S with all the bells and whistles 2 months ago. Listed at $43,500 driveaway, I got it for $39,500 driveaway. Not a bad deal I thought at the time.
