Betty Evans-Jacas, a Lambeth councillor, recently defected from Labour to the Tories after she was deselected by her local party in Brixton Hill ward. This single act has given the Tories led by the notorious rabble-rouser Brian Coleman a working majority on the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority (LFEPA). By law, the composition of LFEPA must reflect the balance of the parties across London. Yet, Evans-Jacas has not resigned her position on LFEPA, and neither has she committed to standing down in Brixton Hill and fighting a by-election as a Tory. This, despite the fact that very few people in Brixton Hill voted Tory. Here, she is doorstepped by a Fire Brigades Union official.
Ron Dobson, the Commissioner for the London Fire Brigade responds to Caroline Russell's question about the need for a statutory duty for rescue from flooding. This took place at the LFEPA meeting on the 29th September 2016.
Caroline also referred to the 6,870 hours London Fire Brigade engines spent protecting the Kenley Water Treatment Works in Croydon (which supplies almost 50,000 homes with drinking water) from becoming contaminated during the heavy rainfall over three week period in February-March 2016.

She was recently found guilty by a standards committee of using charitable donations to buy expensive clothing for herself, and banned for the maximum period of six months from operating in her home borough of Brent.
Despite this, the mayor of London, Boris Johnson, has so far refused to remove her from her £19,000-a-year role with LFEPA.

On March 6, 1995, Jenny Jones taped an episode called "Same Sex Secret Crushes" on which Scott Amedure, a gay man, confessed to his best friend Jonathan Schmitz, that he had a crush on him. Schmitz's response was mostly humorous as he laughed about that revelation in front of the audience. However, three days after the taping, Schmitz, allegedly upset over that incident, killed Amedure.
