Report
Stage 13 was the hardest so far in this year's Giro and took the peloton over four mountain passes. Virenque had to out-think Spaniard Santiago Blanco. Blanco attacked too early and Virenque was able to overhaul him 100 metres from the line. While the stage was extremely animated there were no serious impacts on the top of the GC.
Overnight mountain's jersey holder, Paolo Bettini, was first over the top of the Cisa with Oscar Sevilla first over Brattello, "Chepe" González first over both the Cento Croci and Malanotte. There was drama on the descent from Croci. Leonardo Piepoli and Dario Frigo fell and had to abandon the race with Frigo fracturing his collarbone. Jan Svorada and Ivan Quaranta abandoned the stage also.
The real action came on the Cat 1 climb of the Malanotte, by far the toughest ascent of the stage. Colombian "Chepe" González was first over the top with Santiago Blanco and Roberto Heras following and Richard Virenque just behind them. On the descent, Heras fell and "Chepe" stopped to help him. Virenque took advantage of this misfortune and he went away with Santiago Blanco. Together they held of the chasing group over the last kms. All the fancied riders were in the second group. Coming into the last km, Virenque induced the Spaniard to lead the sprint out. He attacked too early and Virenque only had to hold on and pass him on the final meters. The peloton came in fragmented. The first group came in at 34 seconds and a second group came in at 18 minutes.
Virenque, who is being hailed as a major liar in France by the sporting press, has now returned Polti's faith in him. His win after a 34 kms breakaway with Santiago Blanco was a high point in his career. He said afterwards: "This was not a revenge. It was a victory. That is better than revenge. After all I have been through I cannot smile now... perhaps tomorrow. For some time my heart has been empty, but now I am full of emotion. It's a big victory for me and for my sponsor Franco Polti, because he could have said that I could not go to the Giro. My team director Gianluigi Stanga believes in me, and he made the team believe in me. It's good for cycling, my family, and my fans too. Physically and morally, the conditions have not been ideal. I do not know about the Tour (de France) now, because each day has its problems with the judiciary. I don't know what might happen next."
Jalabert said: "It was very dangerous. I needed some luck to reach the valleys safely. I saw several crashes. Vireneque has had some difficult times but he has coped well physically and mentally. I was pleased with his victory and told him so after the finish."

Julieta Serrano
Julieta Serrano Romero (born 2 January 1933 in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain) is a Spanish theatre and cinema actress. Her prolific career began in the 1960s, and she has worked with directors Pedro Almodóvar and Ventura Pons.

María del Mar Rodríguez Carnero
María del Mar Rodríguez Carnero, better known by her stage name La Mari and Lamari, was born (1975-01-18)18 January 1975 in Málaga, Spain and is the lead vocalist of Chambao. One of three original members of the group that formed in 2001, she sang alongside cousins Eduardo Casañ and Daniel Casañ, until Chambao disbanded in 2005. La Mari remained, continuing to front the band and release albums under the name Chambao.
Life and career
In March 2005, La Mari was diagnosed with breast cancer. She co-wrote a book with her sister, Aurora Rodríguez Carnero, discussing her personal experiences overcoming the disease.
In 2006 she was a featuring artist on Ricky Martin's album MTV Unplugged. She featured alongside Ricky Martin on the track "Tu Recuerdo", which hit #1 on the Latin Billboard charts and received a Latin Grammy nomination for Record of the Year.
In 2007, La Mari released Con Otro Aire, backed by a new band.
In 2008, she collaborated with the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 50, Helena Paparizou, performing a duet of her Spanish song, "Papeles Mojados."

Un cop allà, els militars feixistes descobriran aviat la seva professió i els hi encomanaran una missió humiliant i vil, es veuran obligats a improvisar una funció teatral, en honor de les tropes vencedores i que acabarà en tragèdia.

Stage 13 was the hardest so far in this year's Giro and took the peloton over four mountain passes. Virenque had to out-think Spaniard Santiago Blanco. Blanco attacked too early and Virenque was able to overhaul him 100 metres from the line. While the stage was extremely animated there were no serious impacts on the top of the GC.
Overnight mountain's jersey holder, Paolo Bettini, was first over the top of the Cisa with Oscar Sevilla first over Brattello, "Chepe" González first over both the Cento Croci and Malanotte. There was drama on the descent from Croci. Leonardo Piepoli and Dario Frigo fell and had to abandon the race with Frigo fracturing his collarbone. Jan Svorada and Ivan Quaranta abandoned the stage also.
The real action came on the Cat 1 climb of the Malanotte, by far the toughest ascent of the stage. Colombian "Chepe" González was first over the top with Santiago Blanco and Roberto Heras following and Richard Virenque just behind them. On the descent, Heras fell and "Chepe" stopped to help him. Virenque took advantage of this misfortune and he went away with Santiago Blanco. Together they held of the chasing group over the last kms. All the fancied riders were in the second group. Coming into the last km, Virenque induced the Spaniard to lead the sprint out. He attacked too early and Virenque only had to hold on and pass him on the final meters. The peloton came in fragmented. The first group came in at 34 seconds and a second group came in at 18 minutes.
Virenque, who is being hailed as a major liar in France by the sporting press, has now returned Polti's faith in him. His win after a 34 kms breakaway with Santiago Blanco was a high point in his career. He said afterwards: "This was not a revenge. It was a victory. That is better than revenge. After all I have been through I cannot smile now... perhaps tomorrow. For some time my heart has been empty, but now I am full of emotion. It's a big victory for me and for my sponsor Franco Polti, because he could have said that I could not go to the Giro. My team director Gianluigi Stanga believes in me, and he made the team believe in me. It's good for cycling, my family, and my fans too. Physically and morally, the conditions have not been ideal. I do not know about the Tour (de France) now, because each day has its problems with the judiciary. I don't know what might happen next."
Jalabert said: "It was very dangerous. I needed some luck to reach the valleys safely. I saw several crashes. Vireneque has had some difficult times but he has coped well physically and mentally. I was pleased with his victory and told him so after the finish."

Carmela i Paulino són dos artistes que recorren España en una tartana. Són dos perdedors a una guerra on tots perden. En mig d’aquesta contesa, ells continuen treballant, continuen recorrent els pobles de l’Espanya republicana. Una nit creuen la frontera per error i són capturats. Inesperadament es troben entre les tropes nacionals que acaben d‘ocupar el poble de Belchite. Un cop allà, els militars feixistes descobriran aviat la seva professió i els hi encomanaran una missió humiliant i vil, es veuran obligats a improvisar una funció teatral, en honor de les tropes vencedores i que acabarà en tragèdia.
