Three-year-old Joseph found after two hour ordeal

A full scale police search was launched on Friday afternoon after a car was stolen from a Perth home with a toddler still inside.

Police frantically searched for the youngster, with multiple cars and a helicopter sent to search the vicinity.

They even took the unusual step of sending text messages to residents in surrounding suburbs.

The offender finally abandoned the car on Gloucester Street in Victoria Park with Joseph left inside - police confirming his safety at 4.05pm.

Police said they have since commenced a wide search for the culprit.

Earlier in the afternoon police spokesman Samuel Dinnison confirmed police were on the hunt for the thief and the youngster after the incident was reported to Police.

"The vehicle was stolen from Westminster Street in East Victoria Park," he said.

"Unfortunately at the time the vehicle was stolen, there was a three-year-old child - a boy named Joseph - he was in the car at the time," he said.

"We now have a search going on for Joseph and the car."

Joseph has been since reunited with his parents.
