Southern California, often abbreviated SoCal, is a geographic and cultural region that generally comprises California's southernmost 10 counties. The region is traditionally described as "eight counties", based on demographics and economic ties: Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, Santa Barbara, and Ventura. The more extensive 10-county definition, including Kern and San Luis Obispo counties, is also used based on historical political divisions. Southern California is a major economic center for the state of California and the United States.
The 8- and 10-county definitions are not used for the greater Southern California Megaregion, one of the 11 megaregions of the United States. The megaregion's area is more expansive, extending east into Las Vegas, Nevada, and south across the Mexican border into Tijuana.
California (i/ˌkælᵻˈfɔːrnjə/ KAL-ə-FORN-yə, /ˌkælᵻˈfɔːrniə/ KAL-ə-FAWR-nee-ə) is a state located on the West Coast of the United States. It is the most populous U.S. state, with 39 million people, and the third largest state by area (after Alaska and Texas). California is bordered by Oregon to the north, Nevada to the east, Arizona to the southeast, and the Mexican state of Baja California to the south. It contains the nation's second most populous census statistical area (Greater Los Angeles Area) and the fifth most populous (San Francisco Bay Area), and eight of the nation's 50 most populated cities (Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose, San Francisco, Fresno, Sacramento, Long Beach, and Oakland). Sacramento has been the state capital since 1854.
What is now California was first settled by various Native American tribes before being explored by a number of European expeditions during the 16th and 17th centuries. It was then claimed by the Spanish Empire as part of Alta California in the larger territory of New Spain. Alta California became a part of Mexico in 1821 following its successful war for independence, but was ceded to the United States in 1848 after the Mexican–American War. The western portion of Alta California was organized as the State of California, which was admitted as the 31st state on September 9, 1850. The California Gold Rush starting in 1848 led to dramatic social and demographic change, with large-scale immigration from the east and abroad with an accompanying economic boom.

Albert Louis Hammond OBE (born 18 May 1944) is a Gibraltarian singer, songwriter, and record producer who grew up in the British Mediterranean territory of Gibraltar.
Hammond was born in London, England, to where his family had been evacuated from Gibraltar during World War II. His family returned to Gibraltar shortly after his birth, and it is there he grew up. In 1960, he started in music with Gibraltarian band The Diamond Boys, which had no real commercial success, but played a part in Spain's introduction to pop and rock music. The Diamond Boys performed at the first nightclubs in Madrid to stage modern bands alongside Spanish rock and roll pioneers such as Miguel Ríos. In 1966 Hammond co-founded the British vocal group the Family Dogg, scoring a UK Top 10 hit with "A Way of Life" in 1969.
He also wrote songs for others with frequent collaborator Mike Hazlewood. These include "Little Arrows" for Leapy Lee, "Make Me An Island" (1969) (which Hammond himself re-recorded in 1979, in a Spanish disco-style version), and "You're Such a Good Looking Woman" (1970) for Joe Dolan, "Gimme Dat Ding" for the Pipkins in 1970 (itself a cover from the Freddie and the Dreamers album, Oliver in the Overworld), "Good Morning Freedom" for Blue Mink, "Freedom Come, Freedom Go" for the Fortunes in 1971 and "The Air That I Breathe" which was a hit for the Hollies in 1974. In 1971. Hammond also sang on Michael Chapman's fourth album, Wrecked Again, and worked briefly with the Magic Lanterns on recordings of his and Hazlewood's songs and other material.

Traveling is always wonderful. If you're on the road and without a worry in the world, it seems like a fantasy. If that road happens to be along the West Coast of the United States, it´s like a Hollywood movie. When these scenes take place in Hollywood, Venice Beach, Santa Barbara, Big Sur, Orange County, etc: watching the sunset every evening at a different Californian beach, the trip becomes better than fiction. And if furthermore, if you can do all of this, in one of the best moments of your life, more than a trip- it is an adventure.

Lots of honking, a few close calls, but this is mainly of people just not caring. Enjoy! In regards to some requests to put the names of neighborhoods on the corner of each clip, I tried that and I was not happy with the way it turned out, especially with the amount of extra work I would have to put in. If anything, googling street names found in a clip would give you its location if you're curious and you're always welcome to ask. I definitely had more close calls in this one than in the past videos, but this is mainly of people just not caring. Enjoy! The camera tends to distort the real-life perception, be regardful of this when judging distance and speed. Make sure you look up traffic laws for CA before commenting or kindly ask before making accusations; it might be different from where you live. Remember, SoCal's driving culture is unique. Many of these aren't necessarily "bad drivers", some of these are things that I find interesting on the road and a lot of these are honest mistakes that I've been guilty of and I post my own mistakes ...

Orange County, California, is sandwiched between the vibrant metropolis of Los Angeles and the relaxed waves of San Diego. “OC,” as it’s called by locals, is a group of cities located along the Pacific coastline and inland. Begin your Orange County sightseeing with a history lesson. Mission San Juan Capistrano, located on the county’s southernmost tip, features the oldest Californian buildings in use today, and you can tour these almost any day of the week. Just a few years later and a few miles to the north, the sleepy town of Laguna Beach attracted new types of worshippers, namely sun and nature lovers. In the late 19th century, it became a playground for the vacationing wealthy. These days, Laguna Beach is full of hills, winding streets, and creative personalities, and is the perfect p...
Travel video about destination California in the USA. For some, San Diego - a coastal city with a wonderful climate - is California’s southernmost city, for others it is the northernmost city in Mexico. This is where we begin our tour of California, the most populated state in the USA, the Promised Land! The red tram, known as the San Diego Trolley, leaves Amtrak Station and travels south to Seaport Village on the Mexican border while north of San Diego is Joshua Tree Park, a huge nature reserve that is located between the Mojave and Colorado Deserts. The Mormons who came to this region during their search for the ‘Promised Land’ gave the Joshua Tree its name as it reminded them of the holy prophet of the same name. AFTERNOON AERIALS: Blue Cut fire in Southern California
AERIALS: Blue Cut fire in Southern California
Sunlight hits a sign and I'm in Union Station
My arms are heavy in their sleeves
Everyone here thinks that I've been on vacation
But I don't ever seem to leave
And all that I can tell you is my love's unfocused
And drifting overseas
Head's all full of context better left unspoken
As scenes from old Pomona dreams come washing over me
No one wants to tell you just how long they've been here
The stars are crawling out their frames
The canvas on the ankle straps is wearing thin, dear
And I can't help but feel the same
When everything in town's been taken down for renovations
The hardest part is finding your way home
Freeway cuts the sky and I'm inside it's suppurations
But Southern California's got this way of creeping up on you
And all that I can tell you is my love's unfocused
And drifting overseas
Head's all full of context better left unspoken
As scenes from old Pomona dreams come washing over me
One last look around and then I'm always leaving
The stars are falling out of tune
Fingers bear the stains of shipping and receiving
These songs that carry me to you
But this is not some list of all the ways I should have loved you
Hold you in my arms and let you down
Turn my crooked smile up to the sky and I'm thinking of you
But Southern California's got me driving home in rental cars
And Southern California's got this way of tearing me and you apart
And you know it's true, California's tearing us apart
And I want it to
But all that I can tell you is my love's unfocused
And drifting overseas
Head's all full of context better left unspoken
