Save the Drowning Man!!

I've had this one lined up to post for many months, but never got round to it until now.
It's a peach of a track and you'll notice the D-Ream influence as soon as you hear it.
You probably wouldn't identify much of a Duran Duran element, but it an excellent track.
Very much in a floaty proggy type feel, we flows nicely and has some lovely piano chords which build and build.
Some good choice lyrics as well
"So what we are going for is called reality, you know what I'm saying?"
"It's called being real!"
I can never decide which version I prefer as they are both excellent, so I've posted the ambient mix as well.
This was big back in 1993.
Enjoy.

They don't get much better!!!

A huge, huge fave of mine.
Yes, I know the vocal version was absolutely pants and I hated Pete Cunnah's cheesy vocals, but this mix was the real deal.
I used to love mixing accapella's over the top of it - (Daphne - Change - was always good).
The track is sensational from start to finish, just check that amazing intro and then some really big tempo and key changes.
IMHO probably D-Ream's finest moment, even if (this version) didn't get much acclaim.
IMHO as good as the Sasha remix of U R the best Thing (not faint praise indeed!).
If you've only heard the cheesy vocal version, check this it's a cracker.
Hey, even Labour adopting the vocal version as their anthem when Blair came into power, didn't spoli my love of this version.
A big shout out to Raul for tracking it down for me, I had it years ago on vinyl (but lost it) and couldn't remember the mix. Nice one fella.
Enjoy people!!

Fancy a bit of EMF - you will when you hear this!!

Now who would of thought that those annoying little shits, that used to prance around singing "unbelieveable" would get there second appearance on the PCC blog.
Well, when the're remixed this well, why not.
A superb remix courtesy of D:Ream - more Al Mckenzie then Pete Cunnah me thinks. All the same a really great building track which was huge in clubs in 1992.
The piano at 4 mins 20 secs is awesome.
"They're Here" "Aha, aha, aha"
Get on it!!

Who fancies a little bit more piano???

This probably isn't one for all the purists out there, but all the same it's a great "hands in the air" feel good piano anthem.
A really good remix by D-Ream - who actually did some pretty good remixes mainly down to Al McKenzie who was also a pretty top club jock.
Some really anthemic piano in this one, with some nice catchy vocals and a nice atmosphere to the track.
Certainly not the greatest track posted on the blog, but just about worthy of PCC status!!
Enjoy!!

Head to Head - Challengers vs Champs!!

Now it's not often you get your (or in my case my) two favourite remixers both remixing the same track.
So here we have it my numero uno favourite remixers Brothers in Rhythm (and widely acclaimed as being the greatest remixers ever) vs. my other favourite remixers - Chris and James (although Jimmy Gomez remixes are also up there as well).
The track is a good 'un, although I can't help feeling that Pete Cunnah's vocals are a bit cheesy sounding. They sounded better through the decoder - a la U R The Best Thing.
So which remix is the best??
BiR do their usual beautiful production - building, building - take the roof off remix - which really takes some beating. Top drawer BiR as usual.
The Chris and James remix is also different class, it teases and builds and has some great piano, but in my mind doesn't quite get to the intensity level of the BiR mix.
My verdict - BiR win on points - a split decision mind.

Used to love this one and still do!!

This was an absolute belter on the dancefloor circa 1992.
I think it was produced/remixed by D-Ream.
A really devastating track with a great feel from start to finish.
An excellent intro with the horn blowing then the "Lovechild" vocals.
It then builds, slows back down and cracks into a great piano breakdown.
A top track.

Sasha creates a masterpiece!!

Another one that probably got on peoples nerves a bit due to overplay.
Around in 1992 this got played in every club up and down the country week in week out for months on end.
A great example of a track that builds and builds and then breaks into a truly magnificent finale.
The dancefloor used to erupt when the "Yeaah" piano bit kicked in.
Good memories indeed.
