Account setup - Manage your listings

If you previously logged in to book your ads via placemyad.com.au or newsclassifieds.com.au you'll need to set up a new account with Traderoo.
To manage all your listings in one place you can create an account - using 'Create Account' from the top right of Traderoo. If you register with the same email address you used for creating your existing ads then those ads will automatically appear on your 'My Account' page. To rebook the ad in the newspaper you can simply click REBOOK each time you need to renew your newspaper ad.
Even though you may have only opted to be contacted by phone we still require you to provide an email address as it's the only way we can communicate with you regarding your ad - ie send the confirmation email and other emails such as cancellation confirmation. And if you don't register for an account on Traderoo, the confirmation email is the only way for you to manage your ad (edit, cancel etc).
Traderoo is an Australian classifieds site for local advertisers only.
Even if you've deleted your email confirmation, you can still manage your listings by creating an account - using 'Create Account' from the top right of Traderoo.

Troubleshoot your listings

Go to the confirmation email you received when you placed your ad. In the email is a link, 'Edit Your Ad'. This will take you to the edit ad page where you can change your ad details, including photos.
We recommended that if you're including a photo in a newspaper ad you ensure that it is in landscape format. Images appear in newspaper ads in landscape format regardless of whether the original image was a landscape or portrait image. Portrait images will still display, however they may be truncated at the bottom to ensure they can be printed in the newspaper.
To maintain our customers' safety and the quality of the site, all of the ads submitted to Traderoo go through an approval process. We need some time to do this so there may be a short delay before your ad appears online.
Go to the confirmation email you received when you placed your ad. In the email is a link, 'Cancel Your Ad'.

There's a number of reasons why ads get cancelled. Some of the common reasons are:
  1. Ad has been placed in the wrong category.
  2. Manufacturer, catalogue, and/or stock photos have been included in the ad.
  3. Contact details have been included in the ad title or body text. This includes phone number, email address and website URLs.
  4. More than 10% of the ad text is in capital letters.
  5. The ad contains multiple items with an individual price for each item.
  6. The item price is not realistic.
  7. Ad is for a service rather than an item.

In other words, until after the newspaper for the upcoming edition has gone to print. If you are unsure of when you can book into the next edition of the newspaper, the best guidance is once the newspaper you are wanting to book for has been distributed you can come back and rebook your newspaper ad.

Traderoo now asks for the date of your Garage Sale by default when you place your ad and lists it in the title of your online ad. This info is then carried over to prompt you in the 'design your newspaper ad' field, but it is possible for you to customise what appears in the paper and edit out the date. Unfortunately not,Traderoo only books for the next available booking dates for each print publication in your area. To book on a future date you'll have to wait until the deadline for the print run prior to your desired date has passed.

Spam and Scams - What to look out for

This could be a scam or 'phishing' attempt, where you'll be contacted by someone that encourages you to provide your email address and paypal account because they wish to 'urgently' send you money for your item, sight unseen. This is a common fraud technique, which involves sending a fake paypal receipt which they've accidentally 'overpaid' you for and requesting a refund from you for the difference. These emails are annoying but they're harmless if you use Traderoo in the way we recommend, that is never accepting or transferring money for goods to someone that you don't know and making sure you conduct face to face transactions for your items. You can report these scams by emailing support@traderoo.com.au. Check out our safety tips page for more information on fraud and scams.
