Sveriges Radio AB (Swedish pronunciation: [ˈsværˈjɛs ˈrɑːdio], "Radio Sweden") is Sweden's national publicly funded radio broadcaster. The Swedish public-broadcasting system is in many respects modelled after the one used in the United Kingdom, and Sveriges Radio - like Sveriges Television - shares many characteristics with its British counterpart, the BBC.

Sveriges Radio is a public limited company, owned by an independent foundation, and funded through a licensing fee determined by the Swedish Riksdag. No advertising is permitted. SR's status could be described as that of a quasi-autonomous non-governmental organization.

History

The company was founded on 21 March 1924 as AB Radiotjänst (Radio Service), and performed its first public broadcast on 1 January 1925. It was renamed Sveriges Radio in 1957. Sveriges Radio was originally responsible for all broadcasting in Sweden, both radio and television, and hosted the 1975 Eurovision Song Contest. A reorganization in 1979 saw SR become the parent company of four subsidiaries:

Jenny Hellström

Jenny Hellström (born 1976 in Hofors, Gästrikland) is both the name of a Swedish designer and her clothing brand. At age 21, she started her own business in 1997, making 1950/1980s-inspired clothing.

Jenny Hellström ran the fashion label Jenny Hellström for 12 years. The brand sold clothing and accessories in 15 countries in more than 150 stores and in the company's last year they grossed 1,5 million Euro. She is widely seen as one of the most inspiring and exciting young designers in the nordic design boom.

The logo of the company consists of a picture of the designers father.

The company was closed down during July 2008 and is no longer active on the market.

Jenny Hellström has since then worked as a consultant and also written two books: “Sew! From Hood to Shirt Dress” (2013) and “Sew! Urban Collection” (2014) with the aim to inspire others to express themselves, stand up for what they like and pay tribute to the creativity in all of us.

Dragon Ball

Dragon Ball (Japanese: ドラゴンボール, Hepburn: Doragon Bōru) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Akira Toriyama. It was originally serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from 1984 to 1995, with the 519 individual chapters published into 42 tankōbon volumes by Shueisha. Dragon Ball was initially inspired by the classical Chinese novel Journey to the West. The series follows the adventures of the protagonist, Goku, from his childhood through adulthood as he trains in martial arts and explores the world in search of the seven orbs known as the Dragon Balls, which summon a wish-granting dragon when gathered. Along his journey, Goku makes several friends and battles a wide variety of villains, many of whom also seek the Dragon Balls.

The 42 tankōbon have been adapted into two anime series produced by Toei Animation: Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, which together were broadcast in Japan from 1986 to 1996. Additionally, the studio has developed nineteen animated feature films and three television specials, as well as a third anime titled Dragon Ball GT. Between 2009 and 2015, a revised, faster-paced version of Dragon Ball Z was broadcast under the title Dragon Ball Kai, in which most of the original version's footage not featured in the manga is removed. A fifth television series titled Dragon Ball Super began on July 5, 2015. Several companies have developed various types of merchandising based on the series leading to a large media franchise that includes films, both animated and live-action, collectible trading card games, numerous action figures, along with several collections of soundtracks and a large number of video games.
