Electric Sheep

Electric Sheep is a distributed computing project for animating and evolving fractal flames, which are in turn distributed to the networked computers, which display them as a screensaver.

Process

The process is transparent to the casual user, who can simply install the software as a screensaver. Alternatively, the user may become more involved with the project, manually creating a fractal flame file for upload to the server where it is rendered into a video file of the animated fractal flame. As the screensaver entertains the user, their computer is also used for rendering commercial projects, sales of which keep the servers and developers running.

There are about 500,000 active users (monthly uniques).

According to Mitchell Whitelaw in his Metacreation: Art and Artificial Life, "On the screen they are luminous, twisting, elastic shapes, abstract tangles and loops of glowing filaments."

The name "Electric Sheep" is taken from the title of Philip K. Dick's novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?. The title mirrors the nature of the project: computers (androids) who have started running the screensaver begin rendering (dreaming) the fractal movies (sheep).

Vishen Lakhiani

Vishen Lakhiani (born January 14, 1976) is a Malaysian-born entrepreneur, education technology innovator,speaker, and investor. He is the founder and CEO of Mindvalley, an education technology company specializing in innovation in education by introducing wellness, mindfulness and personal development into global education and lifelong learning.

As a speaker he is known for talks on entrepreneurial mindset and company culture. Lakhiani is also the founder of Awesomeness Fest, a biohacking and personal development event for entrepreneurs and authors; Mindvalley Academy, an "online university" for personal development; Project Renaissance, a community-curating experiment to cultivate entrepreneurial mindset in cities; and Omvana, a health and fitness app and online platform for mindfulness.

Early Life and Education

Lakhiani was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He attended St. John's Institution, a primary school for boys, from 1983–1988. In 1988 he attended Sayfol International School, a private school that follows the London Edexcel IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) syllabus for its secondary level. After highschool he joined Taylor's University to complete his pre-university studies and was elected as class president in his second year.

Tony Robbins

Tony Robbins (born Anthony J. Mahavoric; February 29, 1960) is an American motivational speaker, personal finance instructor, and self-help author. He became well known from his infomercials and self-help books: Unlimited Power, Unleash the Power Within and Awaken the Giant Within.

In 2007, he was named in Forbes magazine's "Celebrity 100" list.Forbes estimated that Robbins earned approximately US$30 million in that year.

Early life

Robbins was born Anthony J. Mahavoric in North Hollywood, California, on February 29, 1960. Robbins is the eldest of three children and his parents divorced when he was 7. His mother then had a series of husbands, including Jim Robbins, a former semiprofessional baseball player who legally adopted Anthony when he was 12.

His father could not provide for their family, so he left them. His mother started abusing alcohol and prescription drugs sometime after. While growing up, Robbins was a primary care-giver, and helped provide for his siblings. Robbins was raised in Azusa and Glendora, California, and attended Glendora High School. He was elected student body president in his senior year, and grew 10 inches in high school, a growth spurt later attributed to a pituitary tumor. He has said his home life was "chaotic" and "abusive". When he was 17 years old, Robbins' mother chased him out of the house with a knife, and he never returned. Robbins later worked as a janitor, and did not attend college.
