Philip Morris Glass (born January 31, 1937) is a classical American composer. He is considered one of the most influential music makers of the late 20th century. His music is also often controversially described as minimal music, along with the work of the other "major minimalists" La Monte Young, Terry Riley and Steve Reich.
Glass has distanced himself from the "minimalist" label, describing himself instead as a composer of "music with repetitive structures". Though his early mature music shares much with what is normally called "minimalist", he has since evolved stylistically. Currently, he describes himself as a "classicist", pointing out that he is trained in harmony and counterpoint and studied such composers as Franz Schubert, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart with Nadia Boulanger.
Glass has founded his namesake musical group, the Philip Glass Ensemble, with which he still performs on keyboards, and has written operas, musical theatre works, ten symphonies, eleven concertos, solo works, chamber music including seven string quartets and instrumental sonatas, and film scores. Three of his film scores have been nominated for Academy Awards.

Kenneth Bruce Gorelick (born June 5, 1956), better known by his stage name Kenny G, is an American saxophonist. His 1986 album, Duotones, brought him commercial success. Kenny G is the biggest-selling instrumental musician of the modern era and one of the best-selling artists of all time, with global sales totaling more than 75 million records.
Kenny G was born in Seattle, Washington, to Jewish parents (his mother was originally from Saskatchewan, Canada) and grew up in the city's Seward Park neighborhood, which is a center of the city's Jewish community. He came into contact with the saxophone when he heard a performance on The Ed Sullivan Show. He started playing the saxophone in 1966 when he was 10 years old; his first saxophone being a Buffet Crampon alto.
Kenny G attended Whitworth Elementary School, Sharples Junior High School, Franklin High School, and the University of Washington, all in his home town of Seattle. When he entered high school, he failed on his first try to get into the jazz band, but tried again the following year and earned first chair. His Franklin High School classmate Robert Damper (piano, keyboards) plays in his band. In addition to his studies while in high school, he took private lessons on the saxophone and clarinet from Johnny Jessen, once a week for a year.

Passages composed by Michael Sweeney In this work for band, dark and rich sonorities are contrasted with a lilting, Celtic-flavored melody as it alternates with striking "passages" from the brass. An alto sax soloist later adds a haunting quality to the mood, followed by a return of the ethnic and lively drumming heard earlier. This unique and rewarding composition is beautifully paced and skillfully orchestrated, using every section of the band.

Will our fears ever last, enticing, souls dysfunction. Those horrid faces have but changed their places. Impoverished souls still, will face the vile disgraces. Our fathers gamble was the bane of our existence cause he let freedom turn into a reason for repentance. They took their higher ground, gave us a lower stage. Brewing another hundred years of rage. Vindictive agony will spread its fear and its wings will shadow the trodden. Jungle politics rules our culture, as it seems. A...

Lie too many and many a time
Lie too many and many a time
Cross the river, the river of bones
Saw the flagship of summer on the water
And my eyes fell to the edges and dregs of peace
Pack my hearts, dazzled minds
Looked at the fires, looked at the fronts
Centrifugal spokes of mine
Round the shape, my heading
Some live in water
Many and many a time
Lie too many and many a time
Cross the river, the river of bones
Saw reflections of summer in the skies
And my eyes, and my eyes, says my summer
