The English Institute of Sport (EIS), established in May 2002, is an organisation which provides sport science and medical support services to elite athletes through a nationwide network of expertise and facilities, working with Olympic and Paralympic summer and winter sports, as well as English and a limited number of professional sports.
A grant funded organisation through UK Sport, Olympic and Paralympic sports are able to engage with EIS services through their World Class Programme funding from UK Sport, English sports through their Sport England funding and professional sports through their respective funding bodies.
The EIS has an independent board, chaired by John Steele, and operates under National Director Nigel Walker.
Services are delivered from 9 EIS High Performance Centres across the country, as well as at a number of additional partner sites.

Honda's junior racing programme - both on-road and off-road - has a well-earned reputation for bringing on the motorcycle racing champions of tomorrow. Part of that programme is teaching young riders that fitness, strength, conditioning and nutrition are as much a part of racing as going fast. In May 2014, Honda brought some of its junior riders to the English Institute of Sport to put them, and some senior riders, through their paces.
For those of you who are unaware, this is the centre where GB athletes train such as Jessica Ennis and Nicola Adams. I was on visit with my college to the English Institute of Sport based in Sheffield. Bare in mind i was unable to take more photos due to the public and this video does not show all the facilities located at the centre. I wish i could have got more! All in all, it was a good day!
