Police scour Perth for live, unstable, hand grenade

WA Police have made an urgent appeal for information on the whereabouts of a man who has what they believe to be a live, unstable hand grenade.

The unidentified man was with other people in the Chidlow area on November 12 when the group found two old grenades, police said.

Two of the men present each took one home and one was brought to police attention on Friday.

"The grenade has been secured, and found to be live," a police spokesman said.

"Australian Defence Force personnel have safely removed the grenade from the residence and it will be destroyed at a later date."

But police said they were still looking for the other man, whose grenade was 'more than likely' also live and unstable.

The man is asked not to touch or move the grenade, and to call Police immediately on 131 444 so arrangements can be made for the ADF to remove it.
