A video all about nursing school. This video contains advice for people who are considering nursing school, how to get into nursing school, how to study and be successful, and just general advice.

Disclaimer: These are my personal opinions. I was not the perfect student nor am I worlds best nurse. This is from my experience going through nursing school. Every school is different !
I am currently a Registered Nurse with a BSN. 4 year degree. I am 24 years old. I am also in an FNP program to get my masters degree. I have been a nurse for almost 2 years.

** I edited this out of the video for time sake, but someone asked me the difference between nursing degrees.
LPN- Licensed Practical Nurse. I believe takes around 2 years-ish. Not 100% sure. Does not require a bachelors degree. LPN's can work in hospitals and a wide variety of settings. Many LPN's work in private clinics such as doctors offices etc. Still have to take the NCLEX.
2 Year RN - You can be an RN with an associates degree. I don't believe there are restrictions as far as scope of practice. Pay may vary from hospital to hospital as far as getting paid as much as a 4 year RN. Can get the degree at a local community or smaller college. Still have to take the NCLEX.
4 Year RN- A bachelors of science in nursing. BSN. Requires pre requisites as well as nursing courses. Must pass the NCLEX licensure examination. I
f you are going on to graduate school, this is the best degree to get. If you are and LPN or 2 year RN, you will have to get a bachelors degree before proceeding onto your masters degree or doctorate.

1. Saying the 'Q'-word
2. Saying "I'm bored"
3. Give your confused patient your real name
4. Say that you "have plans after your shift" out loud
5. Answer your phone on your day off
Never do any of the above. Ever. You'll thank you me later.

Nursing
Nursing is a profession within the health care sector focused on the care of individuals, families, and communities so they may attain, maintain, or recover optimal health and quality of life.
Nurses may be differentiated from other health care providers by their approach to patient care, training, and scope of practice. Nurses practice in a wide diversity of practice areas with a different scope of practice and level of prescriber authority in each. Many nurses provide care within the ordering scope of physicians, and this traditional role has come to shape the historic public image of nurses as care providers. However, nurses are permitted by most jurisdictions to practice independently in a variety of settings depending on training level. In the postwar period, nurse education has undergone a process of diversification towards advanced and specialized credentials, and many of the traditional regulations and provider roles are changing.
Nurses develop a plan of care, working collaboratively with physicians, therapists, the patient, the patient's family and other team members, that focuses on treating illness to improve quality of life. In the U.S. (and increasingly the United Kingdom), advanced practice nurses, such as clinical nurse specialists and nurse practitioners, diagnose health problems and prescribe medications and other therapies, depending on individual state regulations. Nurses may help coordinate the patient care performed by other members of an interdisciplinary health care team such as therapists, medical practitioners and dietitians. Nurses provide care both interdependently, for example, with physicians, and independently as nursing professionals.
