Meiko (software)

MEIKO is a humanoid persona voice by a singing synthesizer application developed by Yamaha Corporation using their new Vocaloid singing synthesizer technology and was originally codenamed "Hanako". Her voice is sampled by Meiko Haigō. She has performed at live concerts onstage as an animated projection. Many songs have been created with her. She was the third ever released Vocaloid and the first in Japanese.

The name of the character comes directly from her voice provider's name, "Haigō Meiko". MEIKO's codename was "Hanako"; it likely came from "Yamada Hanako (山田花子)", a placeholder name for female characters, and the Japanese equivalent to "Jane Smith". "Megumi" was also a name considered during her development.

Development

MEIKO was developed by Yamaha and sold by Crypton Future Media. Her voice was created by taking vocal samples from singer Meiko Haigō at a controlled pitch and tone.

Additional software

A Vocaloid 2 update for MEIKO was in development, but was canceled after it failed to meet the deadline. A beta version of the vocals were used in Hatsune Miku and Future Stars: Project Mirai.

Meiko (American singer)

Meiko (/ˈmiːkoʊ/) is an American singer/songwriter, currently residing in Nashville, Tennessee. She independently released a self-titled album on September 1, 2007. All of the tracks from the LP have been featured in major network TV shows. Her second full-length, titled The Bright Side, was released through Fantasy Records on May 15, 2012, and a single from the album, "Stuck On You", reached #1 on the combined Japanese AirPlay Chart and #1 on the International Chart in Japan.

Early life

Raised by her father in the small town of Roberta, Georgia, Meiko first stepped in front of an audience at the age of eight, singing “White Christmas” for parishioners of a Southern Baptist church. In the years that followed, she performed everywhere from talent shows to Little League baseball parks. When she was not performing, she was practicing - spending countless hours singing into the family's clothes dryer. "Great acoustics," she insisted. She soon developed an interest in writing songs and enlisted the help of her dad, who taught her how to play guitar on his Gibson six-string. When she was thirteen, he bought her a guitar of her own. A flood of songs followed. "As soon as I learned a new chord," she says, "I wrote a new song."

Taylor is an unincorporated community in northeastern Marion County, Missouri, United States. It is located at the northern junction of U.S. Routes 24 and 61. It is about five miles west of Quincy, Illinois and eight miles north of Palmyra.

The community is part of the Hannibal Micropolitan Statistical Area.

Taylor is a sept ("branch") of Clan Cameron, a Scottish clan. Present day members of the Taylor sept hold the Scottish surname Taylor.

Some members of the Taylor sept are descendents of Donald Cameron ('Taillear Dubh na Tuaighe'), who lived in the Scottish Highlands Lochaber area ("Cameron country") circa mid 16th century. Others, with no documented connection to Taillear Dubh na Tuaighe or the Clan Cameron, are simply descended from those with an occupational surname meaning tailor. Though Donald's father was XIV Chief of Clan Cameron, Donald, born out of wedlock, could not inherit the title. Nursed by a tailor's wife, Donald received the nickname An Taillear Dubh (an, a diminutive; Taillear, an occupational reference to the caretaker's husband; Dubh, translated as "black" in the context of meaning "swarthy" or "dark tempered") as an infant.

As a young man, Donald became skilled in battle with the Lochaber axe, and his nickname evolved to Taillear Dubh na Tuaighe ("Black Taylor of the Axe") because of his fighting prowess. Taylor and his family eventually found safety in Cowal. There, descendents of his family and followers became known as Mac-an-taillear ("son of the tailor").
