Fangirling: Internet forever!!

When I came downstairs this morning Holly said It says on the news that Liberal Democrats had a bad night, mummy. Do you need a hug? The results haven't been fun so far, have they? So here I present some small crumbs of comfort to those of us who are feeling battered and bruised by the electoral process this morning.
  1. Paddy Ashdown, Mike Hancock, Adrian Sanders and Evan Harris who all did sterling work on the telly last night.

  2. Projected vote share. Yes, we have lost a lot of seats. But projected vote share is 15%, which is a lot better than the single figures a lot of pollsters have been giving us. It's still a big drop from the general election, but it's not the total meltdown many were predicting.

  3. Scotland. Yes, we Lib Dems have had a rout in Scotland, but the actual results, for anyone who is a politics geek, are fascinating.

  4. Results as yet undeclared. Hope is still not dead here in Calderdale, where they only started counting ten minutes ago.

  5. A quote from my neighbour this morning. He's an ex-Tory, who has been supporting our local independent candidate, and he said to me this morning I got a letter from that Scott Benton thanking me for my support. I haven't supported those twats for years. I sent it back to him and told him he could shove it up his arse. Forthright Yorkshiremen are very comforting to me today.

Very small crumbs!

The national estimated vote share from local elections is usually about 4-5 points higher than our opinion poll ratings in any case.

Hope is now I think extinguished in Calderdale - but thanks for your help anyway.

I read what you wrote about Scotland at a very vulnerable time - some of my favourite people have lost and it's really horrible. But, actually, you are right. It is fascinating. And the Nats have nobody to blame for any broken promises. They did win the election.................

Hello! I'm Jennie (known to many as SB, due to my handle, or The Yorksher Gob because of my old blog's name). This blog is my public face; here is a list of all the other places you can find me on t'interwebs.

Flattr this

I am a proud Lib Dem and make no apology for it. I joined because the Liberal Democrats exist to build and safeguard a fair, free and open society, in which we seek to balance the fundamental values of liberty, equality and community, and in which no-one shall be enslaved by poverty, ignorance or conformity (from the preamble to the party's constitution). If you think that's a good plan, why not help the party?
