In the fall of 1966, tensions run high on the U.S. Air Force base in Japan on the eve of the Vietnam War. After a series of suspicious suicides in a nearby town, an additional threat has infiltrated the military compound - vampires. A covert team of government agents committed to the elimination of vampires dispatch a mysterious young woman named Saya, who in the guise of a schoolgirl, must uncover the origin of the demonic plague, eliminate the ghastly beasts and stop their reign of terror before time runs out. She is the last remaining original.
Painstakingly animated by the masters of Japan's Production I.G. studios (Dead Leaves, Ghost in the Shell, Kai Doh Maru, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Kill Bill), Blood: The Last Vampire is the first fully digital work of animation ever produced. Conceived in cooperation with Mamoru Oshii (Director, Ghost in the Shell, Patlabor -- The Movie, Patlabor 2), and Directed by Hiroyuki Kitakubo (Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Black Magic M-66), the film features character designs by charismatic illustrator Katsuya Terada (Mirai Ninja, Zeiram), dynamic digital sound mixed in Hollywood and the voice talents of Youki Kodoh (Snow Falling on Cedars) as Saya. The film opened in mid-November of 2000 at Cine Saison Shibuya and several other major cities throughout Japan. Blood also played a limited theatrical run in the U.S. and was one of the first-ever features to be streamed over the Internet the day of its release on DVD.

FILM DESCRIPTION:
The torturous production of the classic 1922 vampire film Nosferatu is recreated in this stylized account of director F.W. Murnau and his obsession with creating realistic horror by any means necessary -- even if those means include actual bloodletting. The film begins as Murnau (John Malkovich) is ready to take his unauthorized interpretation of the Bram Stoker tale on location in Czechoslovakia. There, the director has arranged for his cast and crew to live in the same castle in which they will shoot their parts, as they all wait for their co-star, Max Schreck (Willem Dafoe) -- Murnau's choice to play Count Orlok -- to arrive. Their leader has warned them that Schreck is a student of the Stanislovsky method of performance and will not respond to them out-of-character. Nothing, however, can prepare them for the real thing: when the actor arrives, he's already in full Gothic regalia, asserting that he is indeed a vampire. Schreck makes good on his claims by terrorizing the cast and crew, attacking Murnau's original cinematographer (Wolfgang Muller) and plucking bats out of the air for midnight snacks. Director E. Elias Merhige previously made his name with his experimental theater productions and with his horrific film school thesis, Begotten.

One morning, the cops find eight dead bodies, gunshot victims, near a farmhouse. They also find a wounded man who tells the story of what happened. He is Alan White, the father of a young woman awaiting a heart transplant. The night before, his wounded son Danny has come to him with a tale of a kidnapping gone wrong. Danny, whom Alan hasn't seen for eight years, offers a deal: if Alan will pose as a kidnapping victim, which will lead to his death, Danny will donate his heart for his sister's transplant. A pair of entrepreneurs with more bravery than brains hit upon the idea of blood surfing: spreading chum in the water in order to attract sharks, then hopping on a surfboard and riding through the middle of the pack. As they're filming their promotional documentary, the fun gets interrupted by a thirty-foot long salt water crocodile that begins snacking on everyone in the expedition.

Jobs are a thing of privilege and luck, Organised crime syndicates rule and dictate the working class and authorities turn a blind eye to this as police are under - staffed...Rioting is now a monthly occurrence and crime is rife in England...Sport especially English football has fallen into decline, attitude to football has gone back twenty years. People are not going to games, investors have pulled out the game and foreign players no longer want to be in the premiership...The biggest change is that football violence is back in the game...Laws in the land now govern that to be seen in a street gang is a year in prison no parole, so people gather on the terraces in their large numbers... As the hooligans take back the stadiums, football violence is most popular London and the Home Counties where there is at least now five hooligan gangs to every one team. However, with the case of West Ham United there is just two...One of them is The Essex Warriors. When a big meeting of all the gangs is organised at Hyde Park by Apollo - head of Arsenal Bloods, all hell breaks loose after Apollo is shot and killed. The Essex warriors are falsely accused of being the ones responsible, now they must make their way back alive to Southend-on-sea before retribution is taken, back to their own turf. The film is about their journey back to their own turf, the fights they endure..and fighting to clear their name.

Rex Maganti was a regular teenage boy that loved vampires...as mythical, unreal creatures. But, little did he know that they weren't so mythical and two were roaming around his school watching him. On one day, these two vampires took him to a warehouse where Lillith Bloodgood trained all newbie vampires to become strong, fast, and intelligent. When Lillith Bloodgood, a vampire for over five hundred years, explained everything to Rex, he had no choice but to be turned.
