On this episode of Ignition, presented by Universal Technical Institute, Carlos Lago drives the most powerful production muscle car on the market: The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. While it isn’t the most powerful production V-8 in the world (which loses to the $1 million McLaren P1 by 20 hp before electric motors), the Hellcat’s 707 hp rating seems too incredible to believe -- especially when you consider the cost. The question is whether this Challenger has any brain to go along with its extreme brawn. Through a trip to the dyno, the test track, the road, and a standing mile, we find out.

The Hellcat is a beast, however is it actually any good? As a 4 door car it's hard to imagine much competition here, you have to go to the coupe market or cars like the Z06, Ferrari, Lambo to have this much brutality.

The Dodge Hellcats are the king of the Muscle Car world right now, and for good reason: 707 horsepower and 700 lb/ft right out of the box, for just $65,000. Those who have driven both Challenger and Charger know the Charger is actually the better car, with great weight distribution and ride quality. This one has been modified with some basic bolt on parts good for 100 extra horsepower at the wheels, but as we find, it's still a delight to hustle through an open canyon.

Dodge Charger
The Dodge Charger is a brand of automobiles marketed by Dodge. The first Charger was a show car in 1964. There have been several different production Chargers, built on three different platforms and sizes. In the U.S., the Charger nameplate has been used on subcompact hatchbacks, full-sized sedans, and personal luxury coupes. The current version is a four-door sedan.
Charger models
The three main iterations of Dodge Chargers were a mid-size (B-body) two-door car (1966–78), a subcompact (L-body) car (1983–87), and the (LX and LD) full-size platform four-door sedans built since 2006.
The name was also carried by a 1999 concept car that differed substantially from the Charger eventually placed into production for the 2006 model year. A similar name plate, the Ramcharger, was used for the truck-based vehicle.
The name Charger was also used in Brazil as performance model based on the Dart (A-Body) (1970–80).

This one has been modified with some basic bolt on parts good for 100 extra horsepower at the wheels, but as we find, it's still a delight to hustle through an open canyon.
