Married at First Sight's Zoe and Alex welcome baby

Two years after meeting on Australian TV show Married at First Sight, reality starts Zoe Hendrix and Alex Garner have welcomed their first baby.

Speaking to Woman's Day magazine, the couple revealed that they have named their daughter Harper-Rose Garner. She was born on November 14, weighing 3.37kg.

Hendrix also explained that the birth had not gone according to plan. In fact, little Harper-Rose was born with her umbilical cord wrapped round her neck twice.

Describing the experience as "terrifying", Hendrix said that she was really scared of something going wrong.

But once Harper-Rose had been given the all clear the new parents were able to relax and enjoy their new baby.

Sharing the happy news with a family photo on Instagram, Hendrix wrote: "A slice of heaven on Earth!"

"Harper-Rose is a dream come true and our hearts are exploding with love for out little girl!"

Hendrix told Woman's Day that motherhood had been a "long time coming."

"I still can't believe she's here. Sitting here holding something so precious – that is a part of me, that is my blood – is something I've always dreamt of, and I will cherish it forever," she said.

The news of Harper-Rose's birth comes just weeks after the couple experienced a pregnancy scare. At the time Hendrix posted a photo of herself on Instagram and told fans that she'd had a fright.

"I had dramatically lessened movement from baby and after trying the hot shower/cold drink which always worked but didn't, we decided to go in for monitoring. We were terrified," she wrote.

She continued: "Everything is fine but I wanted to share and say to all other mums and dads out [there] don't hesitate to call your hospital and get monitoring. Listen to your body and follow your instinct. I don't like a fuss, but I've learnt that lesson. Baby comes first."

She completed the post: "Maybe our journey as mothers starts way before the birth."

Now that Harper Rose has arrived safely the loved-up couple are enjoying some family time.

Garner told the magazine that he is totally smitten with his baby daughter, adding that Zoe was "made to be a mum".

"She's stolen my heart in so many ways," he said.

"I just feel like the luckiest man alive!"
