Migrants by air

An Inter-Continental Air Tours airliner landed at Kingsford Smith Airport with a party of 10 British, Italian, and Greek migrants from Europe. A representative of American Travel Headquarters organised the journey for the migrants. His organisation, he said, hoped to bring out 150 more Greeks to Australia before Christmas. Another Inter-Continental Air Tours aircraft was due to leave London for Sydney with more migrants.

Bradman brilliant in Brisbane

Batting for much of the time in poor light, Don Bradman scored a magnificent 160 not out against India in the first Test. It was one of the best Test centuries of his career, notably for his confidence and his fitness. With three wickets down for 273 at stumps and rain falling, Australia have gained a strong position. The pitch is certain to favour the bowlers tomorrow with more showers expected.
