Drivers coming in to Melbourne from the west battled a shocking run on Monday morning, with inbound lanes of the West Gate Bridge closed for more than four hours after a fatal collision between a truck and a motorcyclist.
The motorcyclist died at the scene after the vehicles collided just before 8am.
Police are yet to determine whether the rider was a man or a woman.
The truck driver was not injured, but stopped to help.

The West Gate Bridge was closed for more than four hours inbound between Williamstown Road and Todd Road. It re-opened just after noon, with lengthy delays on detour roads.
At its worst, the bridge crash saw inbound traffic backed up all the way to Williams Landing on the Princes Freeway.
By 2pm, however, traffic on and around the West Gate Bridge was back to normal – much to the relief of commuters bracing for a long drive home.
"At the moment traffic's flowing quite freely," a VicRoads spokesman said.
VicRoads earlier advised drivers to avoid Dynon Road, which had been closed in order to right a truck that rolled near Dock Link Road in West Melbourne.
VicRoads manager of real-time operations, Keith Weegberg, earlier told radio station 3AW there was an "enormous amount of congestion" around the West Gate.
