Cirque du Soleil acrobat Lisa Skinner injured after falling during Brisbane show

Brisbane Olympic gymnast  Lisa Skinner is recovering in Royal Brisbane Hospital after falling from a trapeze in the Cirque du Soleil performance of Kooza in her home town on Sunday.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said they were called to the scene just before 2pm.

Olympian injured in Cirque du Soliel plunge

The 35-year-old was stable and conscious, but was taken to hospital where she remained in the emergency ward for several hours.

Anastasia Astridge witnessed the incident and wrote on Facebook the performer "plummeted to the ground".

"She didn't even try to do anything, just plummeted and laid flat face down ... they carried her away, I heard sirens which is good but I am in no mood to watch the rest of the show," she said.

Ms Skinner has been performing in Cirque Soleil shows for 10 years but Kooza was the first time whe had performed for the international acrobatic act in Brisbane.
