This rare 16mm COLOR(Kodachrome) footage of Seoul was filmed in March 1938, by Thor Wiestlandt, a Swedish diplomat who stayed in Japan from 1936 to 1939. It was discovered in the Film & Video Archive of Brighton University, UK in 2004. The footage contains the scenes of two palaces in Seoul (Changgyonggung Palace and Gyeongbokgung Palace, Korean; 창경궁, 경복궁), and some rural areas and people near seoul. Though it is quite clear that this footage is made by a man with orientalism, it is still very valuable historical document.
This film was made in 1938, in color, by the Asbury Park Tourism Office. It was re-issued in 1996 by the Asbury Park Garden Club. It shows many sites and locations that can still be seen in Asbury Park, and many that, sadly, that are now gone. The Township of Ocean Historical Museum is a 501(c)(3) corporation who's principal place of business, the Eden Woolley House, is one of the few 18th Century Structures still in existence in the Township. In addition to the Museum, the Eden Woolly House also contains a library, concerning local history and genealogy.
Sidney Tolers first outing as the Detective from Honolulu. With Charlie Chan distracted by the imminent birth of his first grandchild, young Tommy Chan persuades his older brother Jimmy to take Pop's place when a call comes in directing Charlie to investigate a murder aboard a freighter.
Pygmalion is a 1938 British film based on the George Bernard Shaw play of the same title, and adapted by him for the screen. It stars Leslie Howard and Wendy Hiller. The film was a financial and critical success, and won an Oscar for Best Screenplay and three more nominations. The screenplay was later adapted into the 1956 theatrical musical My Fair Lady, which in turn led to the 1964 film of the same name. Subscribe for more videos :-)

This film was shot by my father in Leytonstone in (what is now) East London in 1938. In those days I think it was outside the London County Council and was regarded as being in Essex. The film was 8mm Kodachrome_I and the camera was clockwork Keystone Camera. My father could buy this from a dealer he knew for about the same prices as the same number of minutes of 9.5 black and white, which was the common UK amateur film of the time. It cost about a weeks wages and was sent back to California to be processed. Kodachrome had only been on sale for a couple of years when he shot this. It was regarded for years as the only known film of London Trams in motion in colour taken at the time they were running. Since them I think some more colour films may have come to light. Note there are s...
