Lunch at Motel Mexicano and it feels like I've just walked onto the set of the movie Nacho Libre. It's very cool and had an open aired amphitheatre (for entertainment after the sun has set), a bar on one side and the dining area on the other. The dining area is predominantly bar stool seating which didn't faze me. It was hot and they serve Corona beer with a wedge of lime, which of course is more expensive than the local beer. The food can't be faulted. It was great with good... serves and we started with nachos and guacamole but we accompanied this with a bowl of "Esquites" grilled corn with chipotle mayonnaise, cheese, sour cream and tajin which we spread over the corn chips. I think you can just tell how good food is, by the way people eat it with their hands and it spills down their chest.k
My only criticism was that while we sitting on a small bench with these plates in front of us still being consumed, the staff bought out our tacos. There's no room left on the bench. It would have been great to have finished the nachos first and then had the plates cleared before bringing the next course out. We ordered 7 soft tacos which came out in individual servings so if you can imagine a comedy of plated food everywhere on a tiny bench. This food is not Taco Bill, it's made with care and passion and it's noticeable. The fish taco is to die for and gets the gold star. My tip, if I was to go back, which I absolutely would, is to order one thing at a time, hold the menu and order after the first plate has been cleared. Otherwise it will detract from a great experience. I'd love to return on an evening as I'd say it would have a great party vibe.
