EVEN MORE REASON TO SMILE

Voted in the top 50 Australian albums of all time when The Age ran its list in 2008 (in between albums by Rose Tattoo and AC/DC), Even's Less Is More turns 20 this year and there's a vinyl re-issue to mark the occasion. The great thing about this anniversary is fans of this superb album can wrap their ears around a remastered version and those not already familiar with it can pick up a copy when the Melbourne trio play their annual X-mas Even shows. Three east coast performances, including a December 23 show at Richmond's Corner Hotel, are now on sale. Joining Even for these special shows will be Perth outfit Header, who also supported Even on the road in 1996, plus the Mike Noga Band and the Plastic Crowns. An exclusive Don't Wait / Little Piece seven-inch vinyl picture disc comes with every pre-booked ticket. For more information go to cornerhotel.com.

PEEP TEMPEL AND CABLE TIES

Did you miss the Peep Tempel's show at the Corner last weekend? Well, don't make the same mistake after this mighty Melbourne trio lined-up a second show for December 1. This show is sure to sell quickly with new album Joy out; rave reviews for both the album and their live performance, and support on the night coming from Cable Ties and Amyl. "They've seized on the opportunity given to them by the breakthrough success of their second album, 2014's Tales ... shortlisted for the Australian Music Prize. Tales, more than anything, provided vindication," wrote Craig Mathieson in EG last month. Now with Joy, the Peep Tempel have taken another massive step. Don't get left behind.

MEMO'S EPIC LIVE FOOTY & MUSIC QUIZ

Some of the greatest sporting scenes of this or any other year unfolded on the MCG when the Bulldogs overcame their flag drought, defeating a more fancied opponent in Hawthorn. The Doggies' win not only brought a second premiership cup to Whitten Oval, it covered injured skipper Bob Murphy in glory, and rightly so. Murphy is among the AFL's most popular, toughest (Bob knows a thing or two about sore knees) and talented stars and he'll be on stage at St Kilda's Memo Music Hall on Sunday, November 27, to support St Kilda City Football Netball Club's annual fundraiser. Joining him for this footy and music quiz spectacular will be Richmond legend Matthew Richardson; who like Murphy is a mad music fan, plus former Richmond and Lions player Michael Gale. Musicians Tex Perkins and Tim Rogers will also be there, along with live entertainment from Cookin' On 3 Burners and special guests Stella Angelico and Billy Miller. This is almost too good to believe, particularly when you bring a specialist like Brian Nankervis off the bench to MC the night. Reserved seats are $47+bf or there's general admissions tickets for $35+bf. Tickets on the door, if available, will be $40. For more information or to make a booking, go to memomusichall.com.au.
