Two severe storm cells were identified coming out of the Scenic Rim region. Large hailstones have fallen in Killarney and surrounding areas.
A spokesperson for the Bureau of Meteorology said they were not expecting either cell to get close to the coast, and Brisbane would also be out of its path.
The winds are expected to reach above 90 kilometres an hour.
